    Hi all,

My name is karl, I am new on these boards.

Just a quick note first, I seen some of the threads that pete and others have started already and I have found them quite interesting and helpful. so thanks to all who contributed in them.

The reason I have started a seperate topic asking a similer question others ask now and then, is just to get a more streamlined answer to my question and more specific to want i want to do.

    here are the basics:

I want to study to become a counseller and work in the industry. I want to study Psycholgy as well.

I don't want to study as a professor or write famous books, I desire to work with people and help people. I believe I have always been good at listening to people and giving advice and I would like to further my study by doing a diploma first and then the masters.

Would you recommend this route? My thinking is that a small course in counselling will prep me for the bigger challenges and courses after this is completed, instead of going and doing a degree straight away.

I would like to work in a clinic or something helping people who has lost family members or helping people with addiction problems.

Thanks for all the responces, I appreciated them and hope to post here more often.

    Light be with you.
    karl

If its strictly counselling you want to do then the PCI do a foundation course. Can be done over 1 year or from jan-may. After that you can go on to do their BSC in counselling and psychotherpy, but i would recommed doing a psychology degree. It will give you more options when it comes to masters.

    Hope it helps.
