Buying a laptop and Im not sure which to choos between these 3 ->

    Samsung NP-4510

    Sony Vaio NS11J/S

    Asus

Its for my parents and brother and to be honest, they'd only use it for web browsing, office, movies/music, Skype and the odd game.
Don't want to go over €600 so if anyone could give me some advice on those 3 and laptopsdirect.ie that'd be great.

    Thanks

Peresonally I am a fan of ASUS and Dell, Sony you pay a bit extra for the name, as for Laptopsdirect check out this thread and decide for yourself.

get the asus,if you wanna play more advanced games like left 4 dead,it has a more advanced graphics card, if games are not so important get the samsung ,its got 800mhz mobo bus speed.TRY NOT TO get one that has a shiny screen, ie some screens pick up alot of reflections, which i find anoyying.
ACTUALLY i notice samsung has hdmi out,for games/movies display to a hdtv which could be very useful if you get a hdtv.

I am looking for a laptop for my parents too. Again it won't be taxed too much. Just want to have a large screen (17") for the internet, viewing photos, possibly some music etc. and also something that runs with minimum hassle.

I was looking at this from Dell:
    Inspiron 17 Components
    Intel® Pentium® Dual-Core Processor T4200 (2.0GHz, 800MHz, 1MB cache)
Genuine Windows Vista® Home Premium SP1 (64 BIT) - English
    Microsoft® Works 9.0 / English - (Does not include Microsoft® Word)
1 Year Limited Warranty - Collect & Return
    17.3" WLED High Definition + (1600 x 900) TFT Display with TrueLife™
    2048MB 800MHz Dual Channel DDR2 SDRAM [2x1024]
160GB (5,400rpm) Serial ATA Hard Drive
    Intel Integrated GMA 4500MHD
DVD +/- RW Drive (read/write CD & DVD)
Primary 6-cell 48 WHr Lithium Ion battery
    Dell Wireless 1397 Mini Card (802.11 b/g)
1.3 Mega pixel Integrated Web Camera
Obsidian Black colour with custom high-gloss finish

The price (inc VAT and shipping) is Eur504.01, which is about what they want to pay (Eur500 is their ceiling).

The Hard Drive is small, but if they need more space I can always buy a new HDD and install myself (a lot cheaper than paying Dell for an upgrade).

Is 2Gb of RAM good enough for Win Vista running on integrated graphics? I've never used Vista, so not sure what it needs.

    Any opinions appreciated!

Just upgrade to 3gb of ram and you will be fine.
Plus if you do buy this form dell you will get windows 7 free when it is released next month.
Personally I would get a different graphics card from the intergrated card but that is just me.

Thanks, but I don't think they will need a graphics card.
