    What would a typical period look like e.g 4 days before a competion. Should I train or you use the weights gym or load up on Carbs or will a 1 day doing nothing before a competition give you enough recovery.

    The competition is Track and Field and I want my body and mind to be fully ready I might go to physio 1 day before to get a massage.

    You sprint right?

    I would do the following normally 4 days before competition.

    C= Competition day

    C-1: Full rest, chill out relax and do something that takes mind off comp but doesn't tire you out.
    C-2: Rest and same as C-1.
    C-3: Shake out day. Light strides, drills, warmup and so gentle build ups done in runners so maybe 3 x 50m real steady but feeling good and relaxed.
    C-4: Sharp session like maybe 150's if you are a 200 athletes or 70 or 80's if a 100 athlete.

    No weights.

    This will depend on the importance of the race and whether you have targeted it as a big race. Other wise I would train a little heavier up to C-3. Some races I will train day before if it is only a blowout and not important.

    As for food, just do as you normally do. No carb loading required if you are a sprinter in my opinion.
