Long story but will try to make it short.

I layed Nadal on my betdaq account for 1000 euro at 1.12 on Thursday match with del porto.

My plan was to back Nadal at around 1.15 and make around 30eruo for my trouble.

Look up oddschecker and betfred were offer 1/7 so i signed up.

I placed my bet of 1000 on nadal to win at the 1/7 odds. The bet was accepted and then my brozer froze. I then got a email (email at end of post)from betfred saying the following on my MSN account and then i read it. I then tried to log back into my account but it was locked.

I read the email which contained the following line so i taught the bet was not accepted. So i then went away and placed the bet with another company.

Until the above documents have been received, you will not be able to place a bet on your account. I had no intention of emailing them a copy of my passport/debit card etc for obvious reasons

So basically instead of making mu approx 20 profit I end up losing 980euro as they say the bet stand. Any one have any advise on this? Do I have a leg to stand on?

thats a perfectly normal request from some credit card companies - but not an online betting site.

Actually, it's very standard procedure for boomakers in England dealing with irish customers. I've had to provide proof to Hills, Ladbrokes, Extra Bet and Bluesquare. In each i had no problem doing so. You'll find these companies have excellent security procedures in place. Their rules do differ in terms of bets already placed on the account. With Hills, the bet i had already placed stood but with Bluesquare i had 48 hours to provide documents or bets would be void. Betfred obvioulsy have a different procedure.

As an arber, you get zero sympathy anyway.

EDIT: Mis read your post. Difficult scenario but with the evidence of the above email, i would suggest you have a very strong case to get the bet voided if you went to IBAS. Contact Betfred and request a void and state your case clearly. You have very definite evidence that no bet should be take on the account. I would comb the Betfred rules first though.

Yeah on to the Deputy operations manager for about an hour twas like talking to a brick wall. She said the bet was struck...

Have online accounts with 4 other comapnies at the moment and only thing I got was a phone call from one after I signed up

I asked here was she having a laugh asking to email a copy of my passport/credit card to a email address like that. She says it standard practise.

I went down the IBAS route what a waste of time.

They said it was unfortunate situation to arise but they said the line only should be read as only future bets will not be taken.

Thet have advised betfred to change there email so that this situation would not arise again.

I think that IBAS think is a load of b****x now. Why did they ask betfred to change the email if they were no problems with it?

if that is the case they should void your bet. normally they do ask for id which is standard. i have betfair and could bet away untill i went to withdraw money from them.

Have a had my share of run ins with bookies over the years Jonny so hopefully I may be able to help.

What I don't understand is did Betfred actually accept the bet on your account or not? Meaning are they saying that the bet was voided because you did not provide the proof of id as soon as you signed up?
