Did a piece on today fm yesterday (friday)

    http://www.todayfm.com/Shows/Weekdays/Matt-Cooper/listen.aspx

it starts at 5.45pm and runs for about 6mins.

If you want to know more about the science of hunger and the best ways to train then listen and of course ask questions.

    Sorry no plug for boards

Nice piece. Hate when idiot presenters like Matt Cooper butt in on a guest when they're trying to finish a sentence though!

I knew about leptin and ghrelin before and what they did - but hadn't heard that the kind of exercise you do can influence the kind of food you eat afterwards - I do know that after a good weights session I am only hungry in the period right after it but then my appetite tapers off. Explains well why you are usually starving after a swim and can eat all round you!

yes swimming is really a mega no no when it comes to weight loss according to the research. You would really have to be elite to benefit from it in a big way and there are faster ways to get results. Kind of a big mistake to do lots of swimming if your looking to drop weight.

Its (ghrelin and pepsin YY 3) going to be a big area of research for the drug companies as you might have guessed

That was fairly interesting, don't like M. Cooper though. "What's lesuirely about a swim?"
I have found though that after a hard training you wouldn't be that inclined to eat a lot, but after a swim, especially in the sea where it's that bit colder that you'd be absolutely starving after.

yes the research on swimming and weight loss is pretty conclusive - do not expect to drop much weight!!

I quite enjoy going in to do features with Matt - was a bit nervous the first few times though
