    Hi Everyone
A family member is marrying us but I need to meet with a local priest from my parish for the letters of freedom etc. Does anyone know if I should pay this priest something?
    Thanks in advance.

Your parish secretary should be able to get your letter of freedom and confirmation certificate (assuming you're a Roman Catholic). I didn't pay anything for these. Although I did all of this from the UK where I live. You need a letter of freedom from every parish you've ever lived in btw. I had to get one from Lucan, Maynooth and Cambridge :)

The parish office did give me copies of my baptisimal & confirmation certs (which we had to pay for) but they say that I have to meet with a local priest for the letter of freedom 8 - 10 weeks before the wedding. The OHs mother was able to go in and get his letter of freedom from their parish office. Different parishes seem to have vastly different ways of doing things.

It seems to be the case alright :) I guess I was lucky! :)
