Are Hitler moustaches acceptable again?

I was at the shops earlier and I bumped into a guy I hadn't seen in a few years.
He's 75 and ex-British navy and never really came across as a nazi type.

Anyway, we exchanged pleasantries and I went on my way. I couldn't help notice the Hitler moustache he was sporting though.
Now maybe it was the stroke he took and he thinks it's the 30's or something, but I just found it weird that someone of his age would have a Hitler tache.

I always liked the Hitler moustache yer man from Sparks wore. It really suited his evil looking expression.

I think the well known fashionista Robert Gabriel Mugabe has done a great deal to rehabiltate the 'Fuhrer tache'.

If he stopped dying his hair he could look like a Hitler negative.

It was acceptable in the 30's. It was respectable at the time.

    Not anymore.

    I'm sporting one right now.
Over summer I grew a full on beard but seeing as it was time to return to college i decided to try a few moustache types over the course of the week. So after working my way from handlebars to standard British military guy moustache i finally arrived at the pinnacle of moustache achievements, the Hitler 'tasche. I sported that baby good and decided to have the 'tasche accompany me for a night on the tiles. A babe magnet it was not, in fact I got heckled and jeered at everywhere I went. I shaved it off the next morning. There is just no room in the world for this moustache. Bunch of fascists, stopping me wearing my facial hair like i want.

Speaking of which, here's one of Hitlers early efforts.

I think he looks far more presentable with his 'my moustache' than in the photo above.

Can't say I've seen one recently...

Everything I don't like is either woke or fascist - possibly both - pick one.

There is a growing body of opinion that all of Hitler's evil was localised in his tache. He shaved it in 1936, and spent most of that month doing volunteer work in a puppy farm. As soon as the tache grew back, he gassed the puppies and their carers.

Similarly, Stalin's tache is rumoured to have been custom-grown in a laboratory from the DNA of some loose fibres plucked from Hitler's tache. Same with Tom Selleck.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 29,130 ✭✭✭✭Karl Hungus

I would say outside fancy dress, no.

I don't know why it couldn't become acceptable again though, I'd say there's plenty of people who'd carry it off well.

As a German, i can only say: No to Hitler and no to his moustache.
He is not an Icon that should be copied in style.

You would not be allowed anywhere if you would wear one in germany.
You cant even talk about him without getting titled as a Nazi.

I heard Mary Harneys parents obtained a single follicle of his moustache and had it surgically grafted to her ass at birth.

From explicit footage that's come into my possession, I think rumours of Harney's bum fur have been grossly exaggerated. Now, granted, her arse is going like the clappers in the footage, and there's definitely a good kilo of fur; but it's not like watching a gorilla on a lolo-hopper, as some would have you believe.

But what if you're not copying him in style? I was in the Caribbean last winter and there were large number of Afro-Caribbean people with "Charlie Chaplin" moustaches. In india, you will see swastikas that have no connection to the nazis either.

You might say this ain't the Caribbean, but I am not in Germany either.

What are they hiding in there? A caterpillar? A pygmy's harmonica? The last piece of a thermonuclear bomb? I say, shave them from head to toe, cavity search them, wax them with emac, and laser-surgery them so that none of their hair ever grows back. Then we'll see the cut of their jib.

He looked good for age then. That film was made in 1921.

I was in that bar Zanzibar once and they had that movie playing on the video screen. None of the women there seemed to get the irony.
