9am in Dundrum, anyone? I've been sick twice in the past few weeks and have to be home early, so it'll be slow ride of coughing and spluttering from my point of view.

Might be overtraining? el tonto. Hope to head up for a spin in the mountains before the end of April. Enjoy your trip to Spain

It definitely isn't. I've done pretty minimal training in the past few weeks for one reason or another.

Week in Spain will hopefully get me back on track.

I could come for something fast (got to be back before 2pm) and flattish, my knee is not for pushing, i can't even use the big ring.

I can do that alright. I want to be back well before 2 o'clock, so would work for me.

What did you do to your knee?

I think I'm going to save myself for the 200 on Sunday... Might head out for something short a bit later.

I'll be doing a spin over Slieve Mann and Shay Elliot with LDB and ScottReynolds on Saturday. We plan to leave DNS before 8am. Not worked out a route yet.

Am heading out on Sunday, but if you were up for a slow ride after midday then I will hope to head out also something short.

Astra, you in? Myself and the Claw are meeting in town and are just wondering whether to expect anyone in Dundrum.

Tomorrow I will mostly be doing the climbs around Flanders. Wish me luck, God knows I will need it and at this point am feeling a bit nervous about it!

Hit the cobbles fast and hard, much easier that way. Don't grip the bars tight, just barely hold them and power across.

    9?

    I'll be there.

I'm going to have to get into the habit of starting these threads myself on a wednesday so I can start with higher bid. I'll open with 11, tonto can grouse a bit and say 9, then we'll all compromise for 10...

Then you wouldn't see me as much and you wouldn't want that, would you?

9 is a great starting time. Not too early, but enough to ensure that you're back for lunch and can do something else in the afternoon.

It's clearly very early, as I didn't make it this morning either.

I'm with Tonto on the early starts. In the summer... the earlier the better :)
The first 5 minutes out of bed ain't fun, but once on the roads... empty roads... it's great. Over 160km for LDB, ScottReynolds and myself today, N81, Donard, Glen Of Imail, Slieve Mann, Shay Elliot, Djouce, Enniskerry, home. Stopped in Larragh for a coffee, think we missed yis by an hour or so.

    +1

Early suits some folk, late others, thats life I guess.

However, for parents/folks with responsibilities early is defo better.
Also for folks on the northside/westside you have to factor almost another hour to get home from foothills of the Dublin mountains to home relative to southsiders.

But we could find a compromise.
    Early/late etc on alternating w/e.s
Or have an early spin on one of the days and a late spin on another day at the w/e, so that people can choose what suits them. Just a few ideas.

Anyway, great day for a spin. Did 80km out in Kildare. Have not done a flat spin since October. After spending every week hauling my ass up the hills, it was so much fun and so easy to let rip on the back roads between Leixlip, Straffan and Kill. Beautiful and vey little traffic. Thanks to emty for the suggestion to get out to Kildare and alternate hills with flats.
Followed some advice re spinning, and kept for most of the spin in the 39t cog. Spinning consistently between 95-115/min.
    Actually felt good.

Looking forward to heading for the hills tomorrow.

1st of all ... I beat these 2 boardsies up Edmonstown rd ( their identity will remain a secret )

123.5km for me. Edmondstown rd, Glengree, SallyGap, Larragh, Djouce, Enniskerry and back home.

I bonked on my way back about 20 from home ... no sandwitch stop ( just tea ) and too small breakie... that'll teach me.

Tonto, I am desapointed you weren't here, I was looking properly Euro today.

It is hard to get start times that would suit everyone but clearly 9am is not the answer :p.
Personally I am trying to get going a hour earlier on Saturday mornings as I prefair to go out with the group but I have to say that it seems to me that the majority of the people that regularly turn up for the spins would veer towards a kick-off closer to ten.
I would also say that I like to stop for lunch and ,usually,am not in a rush to get back.....but,I'm sure that's not everyone's idea of fun :)

Word of advice ---- never share anything with Raam and LDB. :) -- anyone ever tried a Kit kat Dark -- looks lovely.

Yes, although I tend to like dark chocolate in my opinion it is inferior to the standard Kit Kat.

Well done on that Caroline, I think I can identify the beaten parties :)

Had a great day's cycle yesterday bar a puncture, did 110km in total, no doubt helped on by the great company and surprise cake in Laragh (thanks Caroline). Second impromptu boards spin too starting at the Viewpoint. Went home to Stocking Lane to Sally Gap to Laragh to Djouce and turned left after Old Long Hill, went up by the Liam Horner memorial, back down Glencree and up into Glencullen, down Edmondstown Road and home. Have to say I'm feeling fine today compared to being tired last week which I am putting down to the tea and carrot cake.

So yeah, good cycle yesterday, even with the runaway sheep.

Normally I would share but as soon as I discovered it was solid chocolate, nobody was getting any!

You fail to mention that giant danish that you had. We didn't get any of that. Although I did eat your nutri grain bar.

I even asked if you wanted anything, before I paid for it, and surprised you with a third of a Kit-Kat. You try to do the nice thing and people just take advantage.
