    Hi all,
I'm hoping to do a couple of olympic distance tri's this year, I've done a few sprints over the last couple of years and think it's time to bite the bullet and step up! So was wondering if anyone knows of a good training plan for sprint to olympic. I'm doing the distance in each of the disciplines but want to start some brick sessions and not sure how to make it all click together.
    Any advice appreciated:)

Hmm ... slow friday for responses.
Anyhow - Im no expert and below are purely suggestions based on my own experiences.
If you're capable of doing the distances individually then you're well on your way. Since my key limiter is my running I focused on introducing some running directly coming off a training bike ride. As you probably know these are called brick sessions and its entirely up to you how long/far you ride/run during these sessions - people do different things at different times of the year. Some might do a steady 60k on the bike, followed by a steady 5k run and when getting closer to their race (a couple of weeks or so) do something like a 20k bike with the last 5k at intended race pace followed by a 5k run at race pace ...
there's a high range of opinions regarding taper's an interval work before racing so Im not going there right now since it's probably a personal thing

From talking to some people recently about triathlons its definitely the new golf in this country ;) which is a good thing.
Anyhow - good luck with the training and watch out for the injuries when moving up the training / race distances.

    Hope this helps.

    Thanks interested.
All useful advice, as always on this forum-I'm a long time lurker. Most worried about my cycle to run alright, my strength is the swim followed by the cycle but my run is not a pretty sight so I've been focusing on that for the last month with some good interval / tempo and hill runs. Want to get a good, structured plan though as everything is feeling a bit sporadic at the moment.
Also, never really did any strength training before and was thinking of introducing that to try to help progress my speeds- good or bad idea? I've done a few decent sprints (well, in terms of improving PB's on each one) so I'd like to do a respectable time rather than scraping through.
    Thanks again!

No worries at all - ironically Im from the same background re: swimming. If you've been doing your interval and hill runs then you should have no trouble at all. My advice would be first time on your first oly - try to hold back on the swim (which can be hard to do when the cloud of competition rolls over), and focus on a smooth transition onto your bike. Nutrition is a personal thing but what works for me is trying to drink/eat something in the first couple of mins on the bike and let the HR settle a little - and then pick up the tempo into your intended race pace. Finishing you're last 5k of the run strong would be the goal ... again imho

And then the fun begins when you start considering HIM and the IM ... its a slippery slope.
