firstly, airsoft is like paintball right?
I'd love paintball but I want to take it a bit more seriously than stag parties and people just shooting each other with no tatics. how do I get started is the question. live in north kildare

The fantastic thing about it is you can have the same crack as paintball - stag parties, headless chicken skirmishes etc... or make it as realistic as you like using team tactics and game scenarios that would make your heart thump so much you'd swear you were in battle (or maybe that's just my old age:p)

Best way to get started is to try get to one of the skirmish sites and have a go/chat or even just look.

In my experience it's all about the players and community as opposed to the money making ventures that some paintball sites tended to be. No offence to paintball but it was my experience of years gone by, maybe it's changed by now...

Airsoft is brilliant - and I doubt you'll find another sport which encompasses such a wide range of ages, styles and individuals from all walks of life. Whether they are collectors, skirmishers, plinkers or just guys who want a WW2 Thompson hanging on the wall, or whatever format it takes - we all share the enjoyment and sheer love of the sport.

There are loads of sites around you - like Moggser and Fyr.Fytr said already: have a good read of the stickies and sub forums.
There's an ocean of information in there; compiled by the pioneers of airsoft here in Ireland.
