Good place if you like weed and whores.

Can't remember the place I stayed at but it wasn't bad but there are some very bad hotels over there so do a bit of research before you go. The place I stayed when you get off the train there's a main road infront of you my hotel was about 15mins walk down the road on the right near the red light district.

You will have people coming up to you trying to talk to you just tell them go away because they keep annoying you for money, no matter where you go as you are walking by people they will be saying coke, e's, crack but a bit of advice DO NOT BUY ANYTHING OFF ANYONE ON THE STREETS all the stuff they have is fake, watch your wallet and be careful down the red light district late at night.

I'm going to be in Amsterdam in mid-June for a long weekend (Thurs - Tuesday morning)

Not too sure just yet how Im getting from airport (flying with Aer Lingus from Cork) to the city but that shouldn't be too difficult.

I have camping arranged up until Sunday, so am looking for accomodation Sunday and Monday nights.
Checked out the Flying Pig (is that it?) hostels but camping seems cheaper, only problem is that I can't find campsites that are close to city centre.

    Any advice?

Wow, I've been to Amsterdam on four separate occasions and I never experienced that.

The first two times I was there I stayed in a hotel. The first one was a dump down near the Leidesplein, the second one was the Sofitel which was quite expensive.

The third time I was there with a group of friends and we rented two apartments from http://www.perfectvisit.nl/. The last time I was there we rented a houseboat from the same people and it was excellent!

It's a great city with a lot more to it than just hookers and weed.

They're right in the center. You get the train from the airport to Central station make sure though you're sitting downstairs as upstairs on the train is upper class you will get a fine!!
