Will a tv link+ work with a sky/sky+ combiner?

My query is, if it possible to use a "tv link +" and a sky/sky+ combiner down the line in this scenario?

From you looking at your diagram you are looking to send round the Humax box and one Sky plus box. Is that correct??? If so then you would'nt need a Sky Plus combiner as these are only applicable when using a sky+and Sky Std combo.

However as far as I know the skyplus combiners are no longer made and a fourway input model has taken its place, but these like its predecssor will not process any remote signals to change the channel but they would show you the picture.

If however both boxes were placed in the same location such as a hotpress, attic, or sitting room etc you should be able to use the tv link system with 2 infra-red sensors to control each box independantly around the house using magic eyes....and a digital amp and the other components u listed without hassle...

Firstly thanks for your reply steve. Yep basicaly I want to be able to "feed" the Humax and Sky+ box into my 8 port loftbox. Ultimately having remote control for each box at each TV allowing full control from anywhere.

Are you sure the combiners didnt allow remote signals to change the channel? My real issue is combining the Humax (with remote signal) and Sky+ (with remote signal) into my loftbox. Both boxes will be located in different locations.

So basically I will still need my Modulator and TV Link+ for the Humax. I just need to figure out how to get this combined with my Sky+ without screwing things up and not wasting loads of money in the process :)

The SLX omnilink will do what you are hoping to do and can control three other devices as well as your Sky digibox there are two RF inputs for your Humax and additional device then one input for your Sky digibox and an output that can be fed into your distribution amplifier (make sure this is Sky compatible). Here is a link to it I think maplins stock them as well.

You are making it too complicated! Try this:-

    humax.gif

The aerial signal goes into the RF modulator, gets combined with the modulated Scart signal then goes into the aerial input of the Humax. The combined signal comes out of the Humax and goes into the Sky aerial input where it gets combined with the modulated Sky signal. The whole lot comes out of RF2 and goes into the tvLINK+ which sends the signals to the distribution amplifier and also passes the remote signal back to the Digibox (and to the Humax via the little transmitter shown in red.)

I should also mention that I've tried this with several RF Modulators. One produced so much interference that the Digibox thought ALL the buttons on the remote were pressed continuously. Another created unacceptable lines on the picture. The only one I was happy with was the 33050 from Maplin http://info.maplin.co.uk/module.aspx?moduleno=33050
which is also sold by Satcure http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page4.htm#lowcost

Thanks guys I'll check out the SLX Omnilink.

Otherwise it looks like I'll have to locate the Humax and Sky+ beside each other and use switch/diplexers to join/split the LNB feed.

Sam my Humax and Sky+ are in seperate locations so to get my IR working from the TVLINK+ it has to be located near the Humax. Unfortunately the Humax has no RF input or output. So would this be closer to what Im looking for?

Silly me! I was thinking it's a Freeview Humax. Yes, your diagram is correct.

Thanks for the advice thus far guys. It seems my biggest problem my inability to put the Humax and Sky+ box in the same location and subsequently unable to input them into the same TVLINK+.
I could run two extra cables from the dish but it means drilling through a cavity wall and running cables the full length of the house.
Ive seen some posts (most notably here) that says you can daisy chain TVLINK+ devices. Has anybody done this successfully?

I could move my Sky+ box upstairs and leave the Humax downstairs.

If this is a possibility then would this scenario work?

This definitely wont work as the two boxes would need to be co-located however perhaps another option would be to use a wireless remote sender such as the Televes Digidom A/V which you can get another transmitter for use in other rooms. Not as reliable as hard-wired options but worth considering.

    Hi guys.
I have a similar setup. I simply want to control the Humax with an IR extender since its in another room.

I have set it up with aerial into modulator which sits on the scart socket on the Humax and the UHF output from the modulator into the Omni Link and onwards to my loft distribution box. Without the omni link in the circuit all works fine but i cannot contol. With the omni link the picture quality goes very poor. Any idea what the problem might be. I have tried an amp before or after the omni link but no improvement.

    thanks in advance.
