Best Strap Locks?

I've been using Marvel Strap Locks on one of my guitars for a couple of years now, but the part you screw and tighten in to actually keep the strap on keeps coming out! While this means the strap won't slide off, it also means you have to keep tightening the thing every so often. I want to get a decent pair for another guitar. Which are the best ones? Or, what are the pros and cons of some other kinds?

I quite like the Jim Dunlop ones, no nut which continually loosens and not as noisy either, nice.

I always just used the shaller ones, they never losened on me. I like the planet waves straps with the locks built in so you dont have to replace any strap buttons. They are a bit bulky on the guitar though.

Doc J is this the one you use: http://www.thomann.de/ie/dunlop_straplok.htm ?

I use Schaller. Used to use Dunlop but I just seem to favour Schaller these days.

That's the one alright. The strap goes between the two washers and a little clip holds it all in place, so you don't need to worry about the nut coming loose. Plus, they can be recessed if you're feeling adverntuous.

They're cheaper from stewmac, gonna be ordering a few more myself soon.

I use Dunlops, have 'em on three of my basses currently with another two going to get them soon. :)

Yeah I find myself leaning toward that one. Might just get it.

Its a bit tough to get them onto the strap first, but once you do that you know it ain't coming off! After that you just push the button when you want to release the strap. :)

I had one of those Planet Waves locking straps. The plastic end came clean off one evening, defeating the whole purpose of using a system that is safer than the stock setup.

What good is that......the idea is to make the guitar safer, so that is doesn't fall down on the flippin' ground.

Do strap locks affect tone ?

The Schaller ones rattle when there isn't enough tension on them, they have the habit of grinding when there is. You wouldn't notice in a band environment but when you're recording you'll hear it.

My Dunlop straplocks are the best around.
True bypass, smooth sustain, fat mode switch and volume knob goes to 11. Mine was also spat on by Zakk Mother F**kin' Wylde.

    Rawk and/or Roll.

The buffer on my Grolsch ones isn't the best... They suck a fair bit of tone...
