Hi I was given an amp at the start of march as a present. Its a spider iii 75 watt and although it was a very thoughtful present I just dont like it. It was bought in music maker and I can get my hands on the receipt. Do you think theres anything I can do to get money back or even store credit for a new amp? cheers

I'd say you have no hope, they're desperate for cash these days, so there's no incentive for them to take the amp off you, considering it's no longer new. How about selling it privately?

Hey thanks for replying. I was thinking that but I dont think I'd get much for it. cheers

Would be very suprised if they took it back, considering there's no proof you got it there. They are cheap enough to buy online as is so much gear these days - especially with the exchange rate to sterling the way it is. £219 on GAK right now. Why don't you like it anyway? Pretty versatile amps for the money.

No but I've played one before. I have a flextone III. The thing with these modelling amps is they take time to find the right sound. Its not as easy to just plug her in and away you go. If you take the time to find a good sound though, its probably there - and as you find it, save to your presets. Soon you'll have a number of sounds you'll like.

Don't suppose you'd like to explain how you know that information because tbh, I think you do work for them.

I've never claimed to be mature!

I've also never slated a company with a vested interest on behalf of a friend/boyfriend/2nd cousin twice removed/whatever.

I hope this new management (to which you're a friend) does turn the place around, because it's an empty, overpriced, and depressing looking place to shop at the moment.

The proof of the pudding will be in the eating of it.

OP please keep us informed on how you get on!

I would expect an absolute minimum of a credit note for the purchased price of the equipment (provided its still in same condition).

I was talking to the owner they told me to tell you to contact them, it is difficult giving refunds without a receipt, as any other shop, but they do do trade ins and maybe store credit. But do contact and they may be able to do something for you.

Also some of their prices have been reduced. I would reccommend you go and check it out. And don't forget they have gigs every Saturday there, so the atmosphere is much better now. They will be doing promotions and incentives, so go and make up your own mind!!

I wish, the closest I ever came to be a musician was playing the tin whistle in school, thats why I have my kids in it. I seriously don't work there. I am an orthopeadic nurse..

Why on Earth would you expect that?? The sales of goods and services act protects the retailer against people with this strange belief that are entitled to a refund of some sorts.

If you buy something or somebody gives it to you as a present and you don't want it or change your mind - you are NOT ENTITLED to any form of refund, credit note etc. Doesn't matter if it's still in the bag and you have the receipt.
