Its tough to admit that Ireland is not as capable as the UK, no matter what the subject in question is. But, after watching Crimecall lastnight, and Crimewatch on Monday night, I have to say that the production of the Irish show is absolute sh*te!!!

    It's so Un-professional its embarrassing!

It's grand though, it's not as if any other country would bother watching ours.

Had never had a reason to watch Crimewatch.

Crimecall - long time since I watched it tbh, didn't even think it was still broadcast.

I don't see anything wrong in the way it's presented. It's a bit drab but in fairness most of the people watching it are of the older generation and only watch it for "news". We only have a fraction of the UK population and not the same level of crimes so I think it does the job. Why should we have to compare every Irish tv production to the Uk equivalent.

The English are better than Ireland at everything. It's a fact of life.

(Feel free to give me thanks for that one.)

Was that the one that used to have a picture of a different stolen bicycle each week, along with a picture of a stolen shovel?

I bet all the ports were sealed off as the Guards spilled onto the streets all over the country.

It's the guards that really pull that show down, guards are utterly useless in front of a camera. They try using big words to be accurate but it's painfully obvious they don't ever talk like that.

Yeah, they do let the side down a bit alright. In Crimewatch, its as if the police have had some media training and know how to behave in front of a camera. They speak and sound like they're having a conversation. In our Crimecall it's so obvoius they're reading a scripted dialogue they might as well be holding the script in front of them...

I have watched BBCs Crimewatch since the very begining, great show professionally done, Kirsty Young is good, but I prefered the show when it was presented by Nick Ross & Fiona Bruce > before that, Nick presenting with the late Jill Dando.

I gotta ask, why would anyone watch that sort of show, esp on in another country?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 12,078 ✭✭✭✭LordSutch

Murders, Mysteries, Bank robberies, Missing persons, Art theft, Crime in general seems to captivate the publics imagination 'me included' > Crimewatch is very slick & very watchable, you hear about the real crimes in the news every other day on TV & Radio, and then Crimewatch tackles them, (compulsive viewing for some)!

I suppose its a bit like any crime/detective show on TV, from Columbo to Morse, to Midsomer Murders > only with 'Crimewatch' its the real McCoy, and some people just love this kind stuff ..........

Yes. The drumming sound of the theme music used make me laugh.
