    afaik what you need are 6x8's as i know they used those in the older focus. with regards the HU, you *may* not have to if it has a preout, if not i would personally change it. i would reccomend that you would amp all the speakers as youre not going to get much more out of the sound just by changing the speakers over but an amp will be able to push that bit more bass and power

    cheers, powerwise they're fine, but the sound quality is bad, my question regadring th existing stereo was how clear a signal was it delivering to the speakers

    the older focus actually had a 5" x 7" speaker.. oval in shape but not 6x9.
    alot of poor sound actually comes from a head unit not having great output power..
    normally to improve sound its best to change head unit...
    problem is if you upgrade the speakers the standard headunit will not have the power to drive speakers near full capabilities.
    sound will improve but may not be worth spending the money if keeping standard headunit imo...
