We're looking to book a gite in Brittany, using the Gites de France website - does anyone know if there are reference sites for reviews, and if there are pitfalls when booking a gite?

It would be great if anyone has gite or area recommendations for a family of 2 adults 2 early teens + 1 younger child !
    Thanks

Just to confuse you even more, here's another site for you www.holiday-rentals.co.uk They have some sort of guarantee if the accommodation turns out not to be as advertised - it's all explained on the site. Some properties have reviews posted also.

If your French is up to it you can find a lot of reviews on www.tripadvisor.fr

Thanks for the replies. I'm looking at a couple near Cap Sezun- right out on the westernmost tip of Brittany. Any comments on this location? My concern is that it could be quite exposed (gites we are looking at are on the coast) if the weather is not great...

The other area I'm looking at is nearer Concarneau - any advice?

I wouldn't worry about the weather at Cap Sizun any more than I would worry about it on the Dingle Peninsula. The area is scenic, good for hiking and most other holiday activities, but I would be concerned about water-based activities for the inexperienced (two marine systems meet there).

Concarneau has lots of charm, a good beach, and there are attractive local trips that you can make, to places like Pont Aven or Quimper.

It really comes down to what kind of holiday you like: both locations have much in their favour.

Thanks for the response - looking more like the Cap Sizun area now, mid June, I'd welcome suggestions / advice on the area. Weather permitting, the beach is nearby but if the weather is not good I'd like to have some activities lined up. Hiking / walking would be good (bringing waterproofs just in case), but would appreciate other ideas.
