Size of Ford radios?

Hi, looking at buying a Ford Fusion, seems like an okay deal for it. Anyway, obviously it comes with its own radio, which I'd like to replace, as I'd bought one for my recently crashed car that has a jack allowing me to hook up my MP3 player.

However, having looking at photos of the interior, the Fusion radio looks a lot bigger than your normal car stereo and looks like removing it would leave a big gap you'd have fill.

Anyone with any experience of same?

Haven't seen the inside of a Fusion, but the older model Fiestas and most Fords of that era had double-DIN radios. You can get a kit from Ford dealers that will allow a normal single-DIN unit to fit, and includes adaptors to connect the proprietary Ford wiring to standard ISO plugs from the new radio.

yeh you can get a fascia cover to go underneath it, i had it for my 1st fiesta, got the fascia cover from the main ford dealers.

Like Stephen said, you can buy a kit to overcome this and a lot of different car manufacturers, like Ford, Toyota, and Saturn, do this.

Depending on the kit you buy, you will usually end up with either a piece of plastic covering the extra space, or a storage compartment. If you have the option, the kits that give you a storage compartment can be really convenient.
