Apparently as part of the efficient dynamics program, magnets are being introduced to the front of bmws so that when a bmw gets close to the car in front it ends up being dragged along magnetically. I guess the car in front ends up doing the work making things more fuel efficient for the car behind. Brilliant idea. And they give good driving etiquette advice for when using this. :)

True. I was hoping for others to play along but hey, here's previous ones...

Up until now the EfficientDynamics programme has looked at ways of improving the performance of our own products, but we thought why burn your own fuel when you can burn someone else’s?

That of course goes down well with your typical BMW clientel, doesn't it? :D

    Hehe, nice April Fool's... :D

Depends on what you're being towed by though... I can imagine a poor little Chevy Matiz being dragged back by the beemer behind! It would be like the Starship Enterprise's tractor beam pulling it back!

The 56-year-old boffin promised more to come from his innovation workshop but in the meantime recommended people email his colleague uve.vollenvorit@bmw.co.uk to be kept abreast of further developments.

    Clever!

one of their previous gags were tyres that inflated themselves without needing an external air line. this is now a reality isn't it?

Quite a lot of armoured personnel carriers have little tanks of air in the wheels so you can delfate and reinflate the tires depending on the surface conditions

...there's no truth whatsoever that this technology was brought in at the behest of the success of 'iDrive'.......and so they named it....'uDrive'......

    [gets coat] :o ....

    Ode To The Motorist

“And my existence, while grotesque and incomprehensible to you, generates funds to the exchequer. You don't want to acknowledge that as truth because, deep down in places you don't talk about at the Green Party, you want me on that road, you need me on that road. We use words like freedom, enjoyment, sport and community. We use these words as the backbone of a life spent instilling those values in our families and loved ones. You use them as a punch line. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the tax revenue and the very freedom to spend it that I provide, and then questions the manner in which I provide it. I would rather you just said "thank you" and went on your way. Otherwise I suggest you pick up a bus pass and get the ********* ********* off the road”
