I was just set to go for the ferry home from Wales, (I am in luton). Car starts but is stuck in park (Auto box). A/C, radio, headlights & power socket work, electric windows and dash lights dont work? it has been taken to a garage and i am waiting for a call back. any ideas on what the problem could be and is it an easy…

I was just set to go for the ferry home from Wales, (I am in luton). Car starts but is stuck in park (Auto box). A/C, radio, headlights & power socket work, electric windows and dash lights dont work? it has been taken to a garage and i am waiting for a call back. any ideas on what the problem could be and is it an easy fix?. i checked the main fuses and they are fine. The engine and gearbox work fine and i could drive it but i have 2 babies with me so dont want to risk another breakdown before heading home.

Did you check the fuse for the brake lights, on some cars if the brake light fuse is gone you can't shift it out of park, but you can overide it but pressing the shift lock button then moving the gearlever.
