    (Reuters)

New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has suffered a fresh setback in his rehabilitation from anterior cruciate ligament and medial collateral ligament damage.

The four-time Pro Bowl player broke down during a routine check-up in front of Patriots head coach Bill Belichick, with early reports suggesting that he was in "considerable pain".

    Setback

Assistant head coach Dante Scarnecchia told press outside the Foxboro Stadium complex that "(Brady) felt something click and let out a scream - Mike Woicik (Patriots' physio) thinks it could be a cruciate setback but we wont know anything until after a scan".

Brady in action against Kansas (September)

The news will come as a blow for the 2005 Superbowl champions, who were forced to play all of last year without Brady who suffered the initial injury in a season opener against Kansas City Chiefs after a controversial tackle by Chiefs safety Bernard Pollard. Matt Cassel deputised for Brady for the remainder of the season, but he has now been traded to the Chiefs. The Patriots are now left with only backup QB's Kevin O'Connell and Matt Gutierrez.

More news to follow. Actually there's not, its a lame attempt at an April Fool's Day joke but hey, maybe I scared one or two on here.

"First of all, Tom is a pretty boy, and doesn't fit my style. This Cutler kid looks like he cuts his own hair, that's my kind of guy."

    ^ Haha!
