    Hi guys,

got a sky plus box thats only a year or so old, tonight it was making a really loud whirring noise and then when I turned on the tv it said no signal being received. I have it upstairs in the other rooms so it has to be the box, whats the position with this, do I have to take the hit on the box? the guy that I got it from the local sky guy is a total gangster and Im worried he sold me something dodgy, I could be wronging him but I've heard of a few stories...

Anyway just wondering if sky replaces faulty products or what - could do with out the extra expense at the moment.

    thanks

If its under 12 months then your covered by warranty if not then you are responsible for the box yourself. A few things to try.. Unplug the box for a few minutes this sometimes fixes most problems and then plug back in.

Secondly try te planner rebuild option which is accessed by the following.

    Press services
    press no 4
press 0,1 then select in quick sucession

Now select option 7 and follow on screen message.

Box will swich into standby when finished.

I somehow doubt your local independant sold you something dodgy as if he did it would hardly have lasted this long...

    Hey Steve,

thanks for the reply, but was just on the phone to sky, they said that alot of Irish customers had been on to them yesterday and today - some problem with the frequency settings, so she directed me to change some settings and its fine! delighted I dont need a call out and that the sky plus box is ok!

    phew!
