I crashed off my bike on the way to work this morning. I have a huge mark along my right leg and elbow where the skin was all grazed. Bloody sore it is. The front wheel buckled from under me. I suppose I can thank my lucky starts no car was directly behind me becasue when I fell I was sprawled out on the road and if a car was bhind me we know what would happen then. At least I got into work on time because I was not too far from my house and I managed to haul myself up and walk back to get the car. Also I decided not to wear a helmet this morning so i was lucky I did not bang the crown of my head in the fall. Its a nasty experience when you carsh or fall of your bike. The handlebars on the bike (racer) have fully twisted around in the crash. I presume this will be easy to fix.

Hard luck man. Hope you feel better.
Those marks from those falls seem to take ages to heal too.

Regarding the handlebars, the stem will probably just need to be loosened and twisted back in to place. You will probably have knocked your brake levers out of alignment too. Just need an allen key to fix this. What happened that your wheel buckled under you?

Hang on, did you crash because your front wheel failed? That's not good.

Sounds nasty, glad you're mostly OK.

Pics would be great (of the bike, but a bit of blood is always interesting to see too).

    Hi Eltonto,

I don't know how I crashed or came off the bike really (i.e what caused). I think the front wheel just slipped from under me. All I remember was that I was cycling at a good solid pace and the next thing I was sprawled out on the ground. It may have been a a stone or pebble that caused it. As soon as I came off I was a little shocked and just got myself up of the ground and went up onto the path and walked around for a minute or two to gather my composure. I then fixed the chain on the spot as it completely came off but the handlebars were all twisted so I decided not to try and fix it there and then and walked back to the house to not only leave the bike back but to see what physical damage I had done to myself.

i have found to get grazes to heal more quickly it is helpful to pour salt on it before a scab forms or after a shower. btw it hurts like F***K but i've had many a graze from playing on astro turf a lot. unlucky about the fall, i've had a similar experience myself.

I've used this in the past for blisters and grazes:-

    http://www.newskinproducts.com/spray-bandage.htm

Works better than salt and vinegar, although it tastes sh1te on chips!!

Not sure how extensive your grazes are, but it may be suitable.

Don't forget to clean it with fine sandpaper about once a week though... get really into it and then apply the salt:D
