Aer Lingus-cabin baggage

Odd question about baggage with Aer Lingus. I haven't flown with them for years, but I'll be flying to Prague this weekend with them. Anyhoo, I don't fancy paying baggage charges, but I'm a little confused. How strict are they on the whole 6kg cabin baggage rule? If I have a small wheelie case (the type that ryanair allow), will I get on with that, even if it's *slightly* overweight? I've never had a problem with Ryanair, but my "weekend" wardrobe usually comes in at just 10kgs (and some sitting on the case...) Anyone been caught out having too-heavy/large cabin baggage?

its more about looks than weight with them. i got away with a 8.6kg backpacker style back which was big enough looking but i was lucky

would agree with this, when I was flying with them last week they seemed to be paying more attention to wheelie cases than backpacks, even though I'm sure my small backpack was probably over 6kg. In general they seem to be cracking down on it

So long as the bag is within the size ( give or take a cm ) you should be fine.

Have recently flown with Aer Lingus Dublin to London Gatwick, they were not overly strict on the cabin backage which resulted in about 6 people's bags being put in the hold and they then had to collect them from the baggage carousel. I don't think they had to pay.

On short hop flights like that Aer Lingus will have to tighten the rules a little because with everyone abusing it, it was getting ridiculous.

Even if you get 'caught' and have to pay the €18 fee it's still cheaper than checking in a bag from the start (€30).
