    Hi guys,

Just wondering are there any colleges in Ireland at the moment that specifically runs courses based on air traffic controlling? Tried google and all that turned up as far as i could see was an avionics course in carlow I.T and a home-study course from some other college.
Reason im asking is because of the lengthy wait with the IAA recruiting process i want to get some experience under my belt for the time being while i wait. Im only 19 and becoming an atc is something that i've always seen myself doing. I know the selection process is rigorous here in Ireland so if im unsuccessfull i will try my luck back in Australia.

    Appreciate the help!

The short answer is no. The only civil training facilities are IAA owned. There are some private ATC colleges in the UK, if you really want to get cracking. I dont know enough about them to comment, you may want to post this question on pprune in the ATC section. It may get you the info you need. Good luck

No such thing as Air Traffic Control college courses in Ireland. As said you could go to the UK (and pay for the privilege I'm sure) or wait till the IAA advertise in the papers and go for it then. But theres no real pattern of when the IAA recruit AFAIK. Could be no controllers this year, then 25 next year or whatever. hope this helps.

ASTAC in the uk are the nearest for what you want, the IAA don't do it anymore

Don't limit yourself to the IAA, look further afield to NATS and Eurocontrol for a start.
