I was in there yesterday and was pretty underwhelmed by their current stock. Especially in the acoustic section.

29% off just brings them in kine with Thomann, really, except that Thomann actually have things to sell. MM's shop has been a depressingly bare place for about 6 months now, if not a little longer.

Yeah, I noticed this also. I don't even bother going in there anymore.

They are actually under new management these days, so you will definatley be seeing big changes over the coming months. Lets just say the new management are currently cleaning up the mess left behind, and will be making it better than it ever was before. The atmospher is much better these days...out with the old and in with the new....

oh, and Music Maker is now open on Sundays. And it IS OPEN when they say it is!!!!!

I went in and saw nothing. There's nothing to see. The old Musician Inc shop has very few guitars also actually.

I wonder is it a sign of things to come... no more guitars in stock to try out but they'll order whatever you want.

And you claim not to be affiliated with MM

too funny, no I am not affiliated with them. You are all too suspicious. I was originally a customer, and now I know someone high up in there, no more or less to it. Its that simple... but I do know that there is alot of bad info going around about them (coming from who I know in there and also where my kids have their music lesson's, and my friends kids music teacher). I just hate that, simple!!!!

Well TBH, I used to like Musicmaker and bought a lot of stuff there in the past but between them not having much in stock and higher prices I haven't bothered buying there recently.

It's not like they're stuck for space or anything, it's a big store. It's just mostly empty these days. Their website is really bad also... really. It was better before the "redesign".

Now, I don't bad mouth them or anything. I've never had a bad experience in there, they're nice guys. It just seems like the shop has gone downhill in the last year or so. In terms of stock I mean.

Their website is currently under construction. I completely agree that the shop has been dismal, and in terms of stock, but like I say that was down to the management, there has been a complete clear out and the owner is re vamping the place, and the new management are much better than the old. I'd be surprised if a big difference isn't noticed in the coming months. They have a big stairs to climb, but they'll get there. They have already started new changes.

Thats good to hear. Well, hopefully it goes well.
I mean it's better to have a couple of bigger stores that you can choose from, than be stuck with small stores with low stock. Competition is a good thing. :)

Anything to do with the competition? <Removed> I wouldn't so much as buy a plectrum in the place. Along comes X music and now all of a sudden MM want to make the effort again...charming

Incidentally I was in there a coupla weeks ago and it was the same old story, I had cash in my pocket and was looking to buy something that day. I ran out of MM after about 60 seconds. Crap selection, nothing was tagged with prices and the interior is grotty as hell. Not a pleasant shopping experience in this day an age.

    It's a dinosaur.

I agree it was run by tossers but like I said it is under new management, and after 60 seconds you could see they had poor selection and nothing had price tags on it! fair play you must be one quick shopper, you managed to get to all floors in 60 secs, you should sign up for the olympics. If you wouldn't buy so much as a plec why were you in there with money in your pocket to spend? kinda tripping yourself up.

Look everyone is entitled to their opinion. I am not what I was accussed of, and I am not here to get into a slagging match, just wanted to let peps know of the changes thats all! Competition is good, and the consumer will win out if shops are competing against each other. I do know someone from music maker I am not hiding that but I dont work for them. thats all...I will sign out of your little click as new members obviously are not welcome :) good luck.

No need to be so thin skinned pauliefc. No said you were not welcome. People were just giving their opinions (correct ones IMO ) of Musicmaker and the experiences they have had there. That's what forums are all about. I'm sure everyone here welcomes you, but if you cant stand the heat.... ;)

As for the "new improved" Musicmaker, well..... we'll just have to wait and see wont we ?

Another MM thread to be closed.

I would ask all posters not to post anything possibly libellous. Bans will be handed out in future.
