Who would you clone?

    It 2012.

Scientists discover a way to breed a dead human (using recovered DNA) with a living person, giving them offspring.

You are given the choice of whose DNA should be disseminated throughout the genepool, as it will be made freely available in spermbanks.

I would choose William James Sidis.
IQ estimated at 250-300, and he never bred.
I want a generation of supersmart children, and I want it now!

Surely the white trash lab rat would bring the IQ down by a good hundred points or so - no real gain.

I would clone a new Pele and make him be born in Gort so he qualifies to play for us.

Fundamentally flawed thread OP. None of us shall be around after 2012.

Incidently, if we are- then myself of course ;)

I was going to suggest a lot of talented musicians, but sadly they probably wouldn't make it against today's Style over Talent mime artists.

I wouldn't. He died relatively young(possible genetic fault?), accomplished little enough of note, seemed to be obsessive and withdrew from society and didn't even reproduce as you mentioned . A generation of aspergers types may not be the way to go.

I wouldn't judge it by IQ. Imagination and drive is more important. The worlds full of high IQ types that nobody has ever heard of. I mean I apparently have( or had before beer came into my life anyway:D) one higher than Einstein, yet nobody knows who the hell I am, so....

DaVinci I would go for I suppose, if you could isolate it. Perceptive, intelligent and amazingly imaginative. Though if being gay does have a genetic link then we'd have one generation of geniuses, but it may get tricky after that:)(though IVF...) Newton another one though again most likely gay and as mad as a hatter to boot

Picasso actually. Amazing imagination. I'd always go for imagination. These people come up with the mad crazy and useful stuff, the high IQ geeks can then make it work.

Plus cloning is all very well, but without the same kind of upbringing as the original, maybe nothing would come of it?

Rejoice in the awareness of feeling stupid, for that’s how you end up learning new things. If you’re not aware you’re stupid, you probably are.

I'd clone Saddam Hussein and make him our Minister for Health. He embodied the kinds of can-do attitude, bold leadership and sexy animal magnetism that we need to sort out our health service.

The whole point of his "predictions" was that they weren't clear. More chance of the coming true that way =p

In fairness, other people screwed up his life before he had a chance. I would love to see someone like that properly nurtured, and not shoved into enviornments that he can't handle (12 years old is too young to lecture at college).

    Wow, where to start...

Well, to clone the likes of Einstein, Newton, Galileo etc would give us super scientists, imagine how much a modern Einstein would help us with research and that:)

I'd also clone Claudia Carnivale, Sophia Loren, Jane Seymour and Racquel Welsh- and **** them.
