I'm not considering changing career or anything, but are there open courses on this sort of thing either for the layman, or diploma type things (like we have with contract tort law in engineering) or would Hulla or our other tame solicitors/barristers have recommendations for textbooks other than McMahon&Binchy?

(Not asking for academic advice now, y'understand, just their opinions on what they personally found most useful :D )

Moved to LD as a more approapriate forum. The other forum is for thread-/forum-specific queries.

post grad diploma in DIT, evening LLB in the private colleges.

If you just want to learn privately I'd suggest any of the nutshell books. Hodges Figgis law section is where you can buy them. Stay clear of McMahon & Binchy and likes as they are practitioner texts.

DIT Postgrad Diploma is good, I'm a graduate of that. I think you can do it in the evenings.

If you are considering a career change the DIT Diploma is very well regarded - so said the interviewer at the big 5 firm who offered me a job a couple of months ago.
