Take a look at the new AAI website launched today/yesterday:

    http://www.athleticsireland.ie/content/

Looks very good IMO. The last website wasn't necessarily bad, but was becoming a bit dated.

    Well wear AAI! :D

Initial reaction is that it looks like a new (and improved) skin on the same structure. I have always found it difficult to find things on the site - it never appeared consistent or intuitive, so I hope they plan to improve that.

Good sign that some effort is being put in though.

Is it just my PC or network connection or is the new AAI website dreadfully slow to load and to open articles on it?

It's like that for me now too. It was perfect all day; they may be t weaking it a little or it's just down.

I think the new site is excellent, a big improvement on the old one. It's more interactive and lots of new stuff.
Great to see a section for the schools and more about our big-named athletes. I think it's a better promotion for the sport!
    Well done AAI!

It's too slow - time to roll back!

It's too slow - time to roll back!

Apart from the problems that the lads raised above on saturday the performance has been fine anytime I've been in.

Maybe contact them if you are having problems. Complaining here won't get much done!!

The section on recreational running is welcome, but they need to go much further. Athletics must be the only sport in Ireland, where huge numbers of people actively compete, but have no connection with clubs or organisations involved in the sport.

BTW, the website seemed quick enough for me just there. I'd guess it had a lot of demand with people trying it for the first time.

I've been in a few times today and it all seems fine. "Rolling back" will do nothing because as was pointed out above by lecheile it just seems to be a new skin on the old site. The database, server etc will probably all be the same, so any speed issues shouldn't be caused by a new layout.

The new layout is way better than the old one. Far easier to find things and some nice new sections.

I think that this is a very positive step faward by the AAI and that the new site looks very professional as it seems similar to websites of athletics associations from other countries.
I would also like to commend the AAI on a very well run Juvenile Indoors in Nenagh over the AAI. It was great to see them earning an extra few bob by selling some very good merchandise and it was also the first ever time I have seen them checking the length of spikes as I've many a time seen kids in Nenagh with spikes bigger than 5mm.
It's strange, I'm not used to being so positive about the AAI!:p:p
