get a usb to ide ata cable unit ,peats, maplins 30euro,if hd is sata get a usb to sata cable ,sata is 50percent size of ide interface,if hd is sata it can be installed in any pc,with onboard sata port,my pc has 6 sata ports, ses www, pcinspector.de 4 free recovery program, search boards ie 4 restore recover laptop files.PEATS has sharkoon usbto ide 2in one ide/sata cable 40euro, download the manual from the net,no manual in the box,
google sata and ide pic for more info.if sata install inside pc,go to bios set sata toshiba hd aS as drive 2 or 3 SLAVE, not a master drive, what model pc is the toshiba,if hd is ata ide than maybe you could buy a 2.5 to 3,5inch IDE ata cable to install it in any pc.
or try downloading a livecd linux iso,use imgburn, burn it to a cdr ,it boots up,os into ram from cddrive, then copy data from hd to an external, usb hd,or usb stick, usb external drive ,peats 70euro,i think lidl,or aldi has 1000gig drive 100 euro this week, post back here if you need more info.
theres prbly sum1 on boards that,ll do all this 4you for a nominal fee if you pay for the cable and a usb drive to transfer the data.its exrtremely easy to get info from hd ,presuming its not physically damaged,ie the drive is working normally.
active BOOT DISK DEMO would be handy, its free ,download demo, burn to a cd ,loads up a mini version of windows vista os into ram,in order to copy info from any hd,fat32 or ntfs format.works on any pc with a cdrom drive.30gb its probably fat32 file system ,winxp or win98 os.

If the drive is still working then gamer`s advice is good if it is damaged then you will need to connect it to a computer as gamer said. You then will need to run some recovery software and save the data to the host computer one such is pc inspector file recovery
    http://www.pcinspector.de/default.htm?Language=1

there are plenty of free recovery apps. out there recurva is another off the top of my head
I havent used these tools much as I normaly make an image of my drive using acronis true image. This programme allows you to make a recovery cd which can be booted and used to restore the image to the original drive or if that has failed to a new drive if you take an image on a regular basis you will lose very little

or just get 2,5 to 3,5 ide adaptor ,and install the drive in any pc even a pentium2,takes standard pc ide 3.5 ide ata cable, see http://www.addonics.com/products/io/aa25ide35.asp
,you may need to change some security settings in xp,to see all the files on it.
