Hi,I need to get new tyres for myself and the good wife.

My car is a 2004 golf mk 5.It has firestone 195/65 R15 on at the moment and it came with michelin 195/65 R15 when new.

The wife has a Mazda 323 (2000 model) which has alloys with semperit 185/65 R14 tyres on.

I am looking for tyres that don't cost too much, but not crap ones either.I do realise that good tyres are essential, but some of the prices at the local garages are crazy.I am looking for a good balance of good wear and grip. All weather of course.Neither of us are hard drivers.

Has anyone good experiences with camskill and can they recommend tyres in my required sizes.

    http://www.camskill.co.uk

I would also be interested if anyone has recommendations for good priced tyres in Derry or Strabane,as this would also be a good option for me.

Thanks in advance for your time and responses

If you can get Falkens, they are great, my wife has 4 on her car and I will be getting them when my Michelin Energys run out.

The 15 inch tyres dont seem that cheap to me. I bought H rated Dunlops in the same size last year for €75 fitted and balanced. Once you change your money plus delivery , fitting and balancing plus the disposal of your old tyres I wouldnt say I see any value at that site......just me.

Frist off buy a premium brand, would'nt be concerned which on those particular cars and then buy on price.

I'm not that well up on tyre brands, but would have considered,Goodyear,Bridgestone,Pirelli,Dunlop,Continetal.etc.. as being top brands.I have never heard of Falken & Fulda or indeed Toyo, but they seem to be pretty well rated. Can you please let me know what you consider premium brands.

I have found through the web that there is a big tyre place in Derry called Modern Tyres, which may be a good alternative to camskill. They point to Best Buy Tyres for their prices. So that would leave me with the following options. Are they good value compared to the south and can you recommend particular tyres, anyone?

    http://www.bestbuytyres.co.uk/tyres/Any/185/65/14/Any/F

    http://www.bestbuytyres.co.uk/tyres/Any/195/65/15/Any/F

Bear in mind that most of our driving is in the country in Donegal (B roads).I do appreciate all your opinions,as I have no clue when it comes to tyres.

God it's hard to know what to buy.

Ok, I personally would choose the Conti Contacts. I'm using Fulda'a (German) at present, previous I had Firestones and before that it was Conti's and on my other car I'm running Federals. All were excellent overall but it's a bit subjective, for me I'd buy Conti's again if the price was reasonable.

I would agree with this. Got a set of Dunlop SP9000 255/45/17 for my yoke last Friday for €190 each & Eiretyres wanted €180 each before delivery & fitting & disposal of old tyres were factored in.

Shop around locally a bit more.
