    Hi All,

I am back, if briefly, www.killzone.com is up and seems stable right now, so that is good news. Also I advise you check out the Billinghurst article on the site toda, here. I like it a lot. Also check out the second part of the Killzone Chronicals, where take a look back at the early development time. part 1 is here. There is more content in those links than you can shake a dirty stick at.

Anyway, down to business. Pending any unforseen problems, early next week patch 1.21 will be released. I’ll confirm the timings on Monday. The patch includes the following:

-Increase of the standard points settings for Bodycount. Should ensure longer mode on heavily populated games.
-The return of Online Bots. Adding bots to an online game renders it ‘unranked’.
-The option to create unranked games. Players will be made aware that a game is unranked upon joining.
-Fix to Game Search functionality so correct maps are displayed.
-Standardization of the Y-Axis controls on the HGH Scout when zoomed with the Sniper Rifle.
-Fix to Sensitivity setting where the weapon animation did not follow the reticule correctly.
-Fix for auto-aim exploit when rapidly tapping zoom/fire.
-Fix to infrequent collision issues with C4 Proximity mines.
-Fix to list of games displayed on search.
    -Stability fix relating to disconnect.
-Fix to ‘Clan’ button functionality in custom game creation settings.

We are also working on the next updates and here are some of the areas we are exploring and investigating for the future patches:

-Controls. Seeing about giving more options.
-Expanding on Join Game searches and options.
    -Improving game and network stability.
    -Collision exploits on maps.
-Improvements to help play with friends.
    -More game creation options.
    -More game options for clans.
-Fixes to Clans unexpectadly losing tournament rounds.
    -Other minor fixes.

Now the above does not include the DLC updates that we are working on and they wont all come straight away, but I wanted to give you an idea of the areas we are exploring. If anything else pops up we will of course add that too More on future updates soon.

All the best and will be in touch Monday. have a nice weekend.

    Seb

Cool game, but any chance they could release a patch to make the controls right?

You might want to give a little more detail there chief. Maybe start by defining what you regard as 'right'?

Crackin game though OP, keep up the good work.

Nothing wrong with the controls for me. Your speed of aim depends on your sensitivity settings and the weapon your carrying.
If your expecting it to be COD4, its nothing like it.

Was wondering how long it would be before someone mentioned COD4. It wasnt' the first shooting game ever released you know.

I don't expect it to be like COD4, never did. I'm used the shooting from the hip way that (both) Killzone is obviously meant to be played. and particularly enjoy it when firing from cover.

What bugs me is when you're playing online, you see an enemy far away, crossing a bridge for example, you try to line up and pick him off and the sights just won't zero in on him. No matter what sensitivity it's on. I know the developers wanted to make the weapons have a heavy feel, I just think they went a little too far. Is it too much to have even one rifle say where you could aim it a bit more realistically? Please don't talk about sniper rifles here.

But do I dare to criticize the saviour of the Playstation 3??

I love KZ2, I think it's an outstanding game and graphically blows away anything on the PS3 or XBox 360. But surely I'm allowed to be big enough to level a criticism where I think one it due?

Cue all the PC gamers who will now jump in and tell us that FPS's are dire on consoles and should only be played with a mouse and keyboard.....click click.

I think people are against what you are saying because they don't want all FPS games to have homogenous controls.

Wow, you have pretty much finished up the thread there, all by yourself.

KZ2 has control and sensitivity issues. Reading the info from the OP, I can see they are working on both.

As for a weapon that won't 'zero in', I tend to use the one with the dot-sight. Brilliant for picking people off from a distance.

I am liking the support they are giving this game. They seem to be listening to people.

I have re-read the original post and apologize, I hadn't studied it in detail and can see that you're right they are sorting the sensitivity issues.

Don't get me wrong, like I said I truly love this game and think it deserves all the praise it gets. But surely when you love something is when you can admit to the faults in it!

It's got nothing to do with homogenous controls (maybe controls was a poor choice of word on my part) because Killzone 2 does have,or has as an option, what has become the standard for FPS controls.

I agree completely. There are, of course, aspects of KZ2 that could be better. The story seems to assume you know some of the characters already (which is fair enough for a sequel, but not for one that most people haven't played), which can lead to you not empathising with their situation. As I mentioned, there are some sensitivity issues (which they appear to be dealing with). And a personal gripe, there is no restriction in MP, to the number of RPG carriers there are, which leads to a large number of n00b tubers!

True, the control options are certainly more expansive than most othe rconsole FPS games, but, to completely appease people, I have wondered why they don't allow you to map controls completely freely (something SOCOM Confrontation almost gets right).

First of all hitting a moving target at distance with an assault rifle isn't supposed to be easy. This is probably why people bring up CoD because that game spoiled a lot of people.

I can't speak to the Helghast assault rifle (I think it's supposed to be more powerful at CQ and loses out at mid-range) but I have no issue with the ISA dot-sight one. Of course, you *have* to get a headshot if you want to pick someone off at a considerable distance, especially if they're moving.

Your sensitivity shouldn't be more than one notch above default, you have to lead your target and you should be aiming for the head. If you do that you should start to see people dropping at long ranges.

The patch is pretty meh! I'm more interested in the follow up he eludes too. This game desperately needs a better search filter.

    some good points there lads

but its not COD4 and dont expect it to be like it
if you want COD4 then leave Killzone2 as they will never
    make it like this

the new patch has lots of promises .... so lets see what happens

Yeah I heard about vehicles in the future alright. I'm looking forward to that.

One thing the MP definitely needs is more variety to the maps. They're all kind of "samey". How about some maps on Vekta, it's a bit more colourful.

No doubt I'll get lashed out of it again now for making another criticism!!

As for vehicles, if they can keep the balance right, then no problem but I would be skeptical.

I, for one, am all for more map variety. Let's see what they come up with. I wouldn't mind a map set aboard the Red Sun.

It wouldn't be KZ2 if they were based on Vekta. All the MP maps are based on locations in the SP campaign.

    New Sun??

But why should it be limited to that?

You could ask the same for any game ever?
Why doesn't "X" game have MP maps based on "Y" or "Z"

    Think you're missing my point.

There's no need to limit the mp maps of any game to locations that occur in the single player.

While I know Vekta doesn't actually exist in real life, I'm just suggesting it as a "location" for a multiplayer map. Variety.... you know?

Anyone hear the rumour that they will ban your PSN account if you are caught glitching in Killzone 2, While i dont like when people do it surely its up to the developer to remove all glitches rather than the user to not use it, if you can do it in the game its hard to say that its cheating. annoying yes banning action nope !!
