What kind of discounts are people getting on brand new cars these days? Is it unreasonable to hope for 15%? Is 10% the norm? Or are any discounts available at all?

Just wondering what kind of experiences people have had. Or what are people in the trade on here doing.

There isnt even a 15% markup on most cars. I'd say between 6-8% is a good deal.

Id say 10% would be easy with no trade in, however manufacturers have dropped all prices by a couple of thousand in a lot of cases so there may not be a whole lot to move on now.

I got 10% off without even starting to haggle last July, got a percent or two more with a bit of haggling - straight buy though, no trade in.
I'd imagine it'd be more now - depending on the car.

    It depends on:-

    1/. The salesperson
    2/. The dealership
    3/. The importer
4/. Timing (end of quarter is good)
    5/. Model popularity or otherwise
    6/. New/old model

    So many variables.

To be honest, HFIII couldn't have said it any better. Some marques you'd be lucky to get 5%, some you'll get up to 15%. But it's down to a hell of a lot of factors. It's like shaking a Magic8 ball.
