Looking for a satellite PVR

    Hi,

Im just looking for a SD PVR satellite recorder that will operate similar to my Sky+ box. After hours of looking around I only come up with the FOXSAT PVR recorders, which doesnt have any RF out.

Basically Im looking for 7 day EPG, RF-OUT, 80+ gig HD.
It would be cool to control its via the Sky Link but Im guessing this is only available on actual Sky boxes.

I dont want to have to go farting around with RF modulators (if there is no RF-OUT port). I could live with wireless remote control extenders (if i cant send IR signals back up the coax cable).

Any pointers would be much appreciated.

If you have all the sat equipment already, you could look at expanding your existing setup by using an Archo's player which you could then take with you on the go too.

I have one but don't use it with my TV but use it for almost everything else and it is honestly the best media player on the planet. It does have a complicated user interface compared to others but the features are amazing compared to other players. They are bloody strong too. Dropped mine onto cobbled stone road and it barely scratched the side of it and no other damage. Landed on the corner and everything.

TV Recording info on this link (might be useful for other people on the forum just to know it exists as an option):

Thanks for the comments guys. Ive decided to go for the Humax FOXSAT.
I'll have to buy a modulator and a tv link +.

Is it possible to have this setup? I need to be able to control the Sky+ box and the Humax box.

Sorry I meant a system like this. My only real query is if it possible to use a "tv link +" and a sky/sky+ combiner down the line.

Heres the stuff in my basket.

Hi Cuchulain before you buy anything you should take a look at this,it has a twin tuner and 160gb HDD which can be extended to 250gb. http://www.adverts.ie/showproduct.php?product=104867&cat=500

SD receivers with USB PVR are available very cheaply now. You buy the receiver and add an external HD either USB Flash key drive or a bigger 2.5". Ive a couple i use, its great for then being able to hook up to a PC & convert to divx for saving. 2 satellite receivers could cost less than a twin tuner model. The ones i use allow you to record & stillwatch the same polarisation transponders on the channel you are recording.

SNAPS i dont wish to be rude,i was only making a suggestion, but you cant not compare Bush receivers with Echostar,a second-hand car dealer would be very stupid to try and sell a Skoda to somebody when they could buy a Rolls Royce at the same price. The echostar dealer where this box was bought is selling secondhand for £382 thats over 420 euro http://www.multimediasystems.co.uk/cgi-bin/ss000001.pl?PG=56&NOLOGIN=1&GROUPONLY=1

Buy a eee pc 1000H netbook for about €300. And a USB satellite receiver (Im sure people here can give you links to the best one of these to get).

Now use it as a PVR connected to your TV.
Now you have a laptop and a PVR.

What are you on about? I was making a suggestion about a PVR setup? What are you going on about a bush receiver and echostar??????

At the moment only sky boxes & official freesat/sat4free boxes will have a full 7day epg for the FTA channels on astra2. There is a software plugin for dreamboxes for an addition to a 7day epg for these channels as well. Most 3rd party receivers will only have now & next on 28 east.
