Something slightly obscure that I might have missed.

I'm partial to a bit of Strategy (Red Alert 2 being my all time fav) and RPG (Baldur's gate and Planescape Torment).

RPG wise, you could look at Drakensang, there's a demo about for it.

    http://www.fileshack.com/file.x/13415/Drakensang:+The+Dark+Eye+Demo

It's light weight, but fun enough.

Cool I'll check it out. That was something else, I light-weight games, something that loads up quick, straightforward to play and alt-tab friendly.

    The Witcher: Enhanced Edition.

Edit. As far as it can make it out it's lightweight and it loads fast, altho my machine is fast. It's also Alt-Tab friendly.

Tried it. Far from light-weight and played like a dog on my laptop.

Oops, sorry I forgot u were looking for an obscure game. Check out Drakan-Order of the Flame. It's a real oldie (released back in 1998) but it's a real goodie.

Oh. Sorry. Plays like a dream on my yoke. 4GHz QX9650, 4GB, 4870X2 etc. The only game I've played recenty that doesn't CTD regularly.

    Galactic Civillisations 1 or 2.

Theres claims 2 runs more efficiently than 1, but meh, theyre both quite good games with challenging AI.

It's not obscure and it's not a battle strategy, but the Football Manager series are fun, as light or heavy as you like and alt-tab friendly.

I've also been thoroughly enjoying TF2 of late. One of the few highlights that come with being unemployed!

A bit old but The Close Combat Series is one of my favorites, still playing CC3 ten years later :)

Company of Heroes is also enjoyable.

    ::Edit::

It's only a tenner on Steam.

I want to call you a liar, but then I'm not a DotA player.
So you could very well be right.

Defcon is a lightweight not very graphics intensive strategy. Double press ESC and it minimizes.

Have a copy of Sins lying around so might try it again, bit daunting the last time. Haven't even heard of the other two.

This one is a bit of resource hog is it not? Great game but i'll come back to it when i have a better rig.

hated warcraft 3. Not sure why.

Thanks for all the suggestions. The reason I say obscure is otherwise chances are i've played it.

I played it back on my old PC , single core 6800GS and it was grand, I couldnt max it out but it was fine. It runs smooth on my laptop on max cause thats got a dual core and a 8600mGT (its more CPU intensive rather than GPU)

    Whats your specs?

Dual core 2GHz, 2GB RAM, 8400M GS Laptop.

Hopefully I build a new rig in a few months and install it again.
