    Hi All,

I'm looking to pick up a 07 vectra tomorrow, wondering where is best around Dublin / Kildare to have it serviced, as it needs a service quite badly. I dont mind paying a premium for a really good service, for that peace of mind starting out

    Thanks

When you say "it needs a service quite badly", what do you mean exactly? Is the car driving poorly, making a funny noise or something? That being the case, don't buy it, as it might need a lot more than a service.

DG Opel on the Navan Road is an option, there's also an Opel dealer in Liffey Valley afaik which may be handy for you.

sorry should have been clearer, car is spotless, just that its due a scheduled service and want to be sure that its done right. any idea what a full service is gonna cost?

Best to ring a dealer, but I'd guess between €200 and €300, maybe more if brakes or other items also need attention.

Just a comment: if you are buying this car from a dealer, I'd expect the scheduled service to be fully done by them as part of the deal and you should absolutely insist on this. If buying from a private seller, I'd use the fact that it's due a service as a bargaining factor for another few hundred quid off.

I hope it's not a dealer actually, because for a dealer to sell you an '07 car that is due a service is poor form imo. Best of luck with it anyway.

In that case, I'd ring a few dealers, get a price for the service and then go back to the seller with the prices quoted. I'd be looking for the cost of that service off the asking price at least. It's an immediate cost to you that you want to minimise.

That's assuming of course you are not already getting it at a super bargain price!!

Have you or anyone checked other things like the tyres, brakes, exhaust etc.?

Given how difficult it is to sell cars at the moment you would imagin that the seller would have had the car serviced recently given that they were selling it.

This would concern me to how the car was maintained (or lack of) by the current owner. At the very least I would use it as a haggling point to reduce the asking price.

Hills, Main Dealer in Arklow are very cheap for servicing. Give them a shout.
