Anyone care to recommend a pair of cycling glasses. Am looking for a relatively cheap pair as I am on a tight enough budget. Rules out the Oakleys.
Dont know much about glasses and even looking at ebay there is literally hundreds of makes in all types of designs.
Basically, I am looking for a pair that are fairly sturdy and comfortable.

    Thanks..

I have these BBB photochromic. They've gone down in price since last year ... mine were bought for 100USD ...

Can't really recommend any one in particular, but just ensure that there's enough space around the frame to allow decent ventilation; there's nothing worse than the glasses fogging up when you stop or are moving slowly.
For what it's worth I have a pair of Decathlon shades i picked up in France, they have yellow/clear/smoked lenses, which I particularly like, and there's decent airflow. I can't wear my oakleys cycling, cos they're too close-fitting

I got a cheapo pair of DHB (2 pairs actually) from wiggle for free once. Come with 3 different colour lense. Dark, clear and a nice blue which brightens up the crappy days. Not bad for nothing. Cost 30 quid new.

I also have Oakleys which I really love and wear most often. I've had them for years. They are close fitting like Ken mentions but they only fog up if I stop... which isn't often when out on the bike. Nonetheless, if I do stop, I pull em forward a pinch and when I start cycling again they quickly clear up once the air flows inside. Then I push em back up again.

yeah the oakleys are nice, but so are the giro haviks, and at less than half the price. tasty.

I'm a firm believer in the "You pay for WAY more than what you get" school of sunglasses buying. In other words, I go for cheap ones. As long as they offer UV protection, don't leave a logo imprinted on the bridge of my nose, have a few interchangeable lenses and afford a wide angle of peripheral vision, they're okay by me. Sunglasses are so easily dropped and scratched, or just plain lost at the bottom of a drawer, that they might as well be cheap to replace.

I got a pair from Aldi a couple of years ago that I use commuting all the time. They feel like they're made of the same plastic you might find inside a Kinder Surprise but they have interchangeable lenses and weigh almost nothing.

I recently got a pair of el-cheapo Pro Bike Kit own-brand glasses for about a tenner. They're not pretty but they came with five interchangeable lens sets and they work absolutely fine.

Those BBB photochromic ones look good, I could see that being useful, seem to have the same sort of range as the interchangable lense systems. Out of interest what do people with bad eyesight do? For racing in particular. Sunglasses with inserts or contacts? My current specs are very small which can be a problem if I am head down in the wind etc.

I am -1 on both eyes and I recently got 1 Day contacts and they're great! I've used them on my last few century spins. Otherwise I just cycle with nothing or when I commute in the dark, my usual glasses ... that makes me look as the BF says 'slightly hispterish' or in other words ... like an eedjit.

I got a cheapo pair from cycleways just too see if I like wearing glasses. . Madison for 30 euro I think. Three lenses and they are fine. I usually get tight fitting glasses for recreation but they fog (as said above).

Oh, the good news I go faster downhill cause I can't feel the speed.

Look no further: +1 on these PBK Conquer Glasses!!! I have got them twice now and I really like them. Got them for €16 the first time and €13 the second time, so really good value. They come in a beautiful hard-case too which makes them last longer than usual! Good luck ;)

cheap sunglasses are still cheap sunglasses...

shell out for the giro haviks. i would never drop a pair of 125e shades. so no problems with damages. simple as, when finished wearing them put em in their protective case, you'll have them forever.

Oakley Radars are the way to go. Can pick them up for about €120 if you look hard enough.

+1 on the Oakley Radars, though any of them are good... you can get a pair on ebay for around 100, and there's a few styles to choose from. I like the Radar's, cos they're quite big and give good wind protection, as well as having interchangeable lenses, but I'm also looking at getting a pair of Half Jackets or similar (like these) for a bit of a change.

Unlike Ghost Rider, I really do believe that you get a better quality of optic from someone like Oakley, Giro or Rudy Project than the others -there is a bit of a premium for the name, but I honestly think it's work it

-1 on these for me. Frame broke after about a month. Seemed to me the frames could withstand a lot of lens swapping. The case was good though.

Currently using BBB ones with are great value for money. Wife got me a pair of LA Oakleys for Crimbo but haven't used them much yet. Still waiting for that ever elusive sun to appear.

I'd say steer clear of the livestrong Oakleys (unless they're a gift), as you pay about a 50 quid premium on 'em!
