If anyone could help it would be great. I am currently renting paying 750 euro a month in cork and working full time. My friend who is on a disability pension and is unemployed needs somewhere to rent and was looking to rent a room off me. She wants to claim rent allowance is she entitled? will this affect me

    Thanks

You probably need to check your lease to see if it allows you to sublet a room. Other than that it shouldn't affect you. Presuming you're charging her less than your rent costs you're not going to have a tax liability on it or anything. At least I can't figure out how much sense it would make if you did.

Is she entitled to rent allowance in general? (Think you have to be on the social housing list but I'm not sure)

I'm not sure what the position on rent allowance is where rent is being paid to a sub-lettor rather than the freehold owner.
