keeping energy levels up

    like a lot of people coming up to summer i have decided to get rid of my Christmas weight:rolleyes: so i got a decent bike and i am trying to totally re construct my whole diet(as i think this is what lets me down i have very bad eating habits)

    however i have tried things like this before (gyms etc) and within the first 2 weeks even though i was going good and seeing some results i would find myself drained of energy and motivation and cant go on:(, so i slip off the wagon and right back into my bad habits...

    i wanna point out that i am not looking for any quick fixes or diet pills etc and i am going to put the hard work in but i am looking for something that could give me an energy boost to keep me going

    anyone know or tried anything that can keep energy levels up? :)

    I suspect that what happened before was that you started a tough workout routine while also going really hard core with your diet. That sort of combination will definitely leave you tired, pissed-off and all out of motivation.

    By all means, clean up your diet, but don't change your calorie levels. Use www.fitday.com to see what you are eating now, then see about subbing some of the junk for better quality food. For instance, replace some of the refined carbs with lean protein and extra vegetables.

    Do your workout, allowing enough rest (typically, rest or do moderate cardio the day after lifting weights), and adjust your diet to compensate if necessary.

    Drink enough water, and GET ENOUGH SLEEP. This is a huge factor. You can't work out hard if you are not sleeping.

    If your diet is in order, you don't really need extra supplements, but most people can benefit from a good multi-vit, some fish oil and maybe some extra Vitamin C.
