Holy crap. My mouth is in searing pain. Hope this doesn't qualify as a medical question. Just wondering, will this die down or does it mean I need to go to the dentist to lop 'em out?

Also a way of dealing with the pain would be awesome.

Best thing for wisdom teeth I find is Solpadine - the strongest one you can find.

As wisdom grow, they push against already present teeth,if there are any.
The pain will persist or get worse(it may also subside). My experience of wisdom teeth was they pushed up and out my existing teeth, caused pain and ifection.Best thing to do is get them out ASAP if thats the dentists suggestion,my face swole up like something from the elephant man after teh op

You would be best to go to the dentist in case you have an infection. None of us know exactly what is wrong with your tooth.

    Good luck.

I feel your pain, mine have just crowned and it took about 2 years for them to get this far.

I found that a dab of anbesol on the gum helped.

And if you don't have any of that I would recommend a hot whiskey or two. (cloves are a natural anaesthetic)

    I feel for you, really.

I had pains and infections starting on my right hand side. No real biggy, till the xray. 5th bloody Wisdom tooth was pushing on my perfectly positioned upper tooth, which, in turn, pushed my lower back into my jaw.

Upper tooth came out with in 30 seconds, as it was pushed so far out

absolute half hour of horror, of the extraction on the impacted lower tooth followed by dry socket (never think as that as a proper saying for some reason).

All that was 8 years ago, now the 5th tooth is making a bid for gum freedom

If you have an infection, you'll have to get rid of that first before any dentist will attempt to remove the wisdom tooth.

I had wisdom teeth removed under general anaesthetic. Felt nothing .... Til later.
