Looking for a bit of help.

I'm 21 live at home with the parents and attend full time education. Its gotten to the point where the home life has just gotten so frustrating that it is interfering with my college work. So i'm looking to move out.

The only problem is I'm broke so i cant afford to get a flat. What solutions do i have open to me, keeping in mind if i were to get a job it would seriously impact on college, i normally do 9-12 hour days as it is and to try and get a job that would fit around that wouldn't be worth it.

So do i stay at home hating life, my parents and co or is it possible for me to move out. How would i be treated by the state am i entitled to anything?

thanks in advance for the help.

    Hi OP.

I'm not sure, but I suspect you may not get anything from the state unless you are means-tested and come within the range required for benefit/rent allowance etc. Maybe the Citizens Advice Bureau can provide you with some accurate information on this?

If you move out and have to work to pay the rent and bills, you will be faced with the hassle of finding a job with suitable hours (which as you probably realise may prove difficult these days) and having enough time to devote to college and study.
If you can find such a job, moving out may be possible.

Otherwise, you might need to look at resolving any issues you face while living at home - I'm not sure if you wish to elaborate on what these are.

I know this may not be terribly comforting, but the financial burden of living
away from home while in college might be tough, especially if you're paying your own way completely (although I'm not saying it isn't manageble).

Have you got a family member (aunt/uncle/sibling/etc) living outside the family home but within reach of college? This might be something to consider.

    Hope this helps.

Suck it up. I don't thnk you will be entitled to anything if you move out now. You won't be in college forever, so my advice would be to deal with it until you are finished then you are free to get a job and do what you want.

I am also assuming that since you have no job your parents currently pay for your food etc? You don't know how good you have it!

When will you be finished college OP?

You could stick it out until your summer exams/projects are finished and then perhaps move out temporarily if you are earning with a summer job. This break might help things with your parents and you might see an improvement if you had to move back in for the next academic year.

I understand that things can be very frustrating for you, especially when so much of your time and energy goes into college. It is worth remembering that nothing lasts forever, it's only temporary. It will get better!

How long have you left at college?
Is everything about being at home annoying you?
You should contact your local Council or Information Office and find out your entitlements.
From my experience, it would be better to sit it out at home until you're done with college, you'll hopefully get employment and will be able to properly afford rent, bills etc.
Probably not what you want to hear but find out your entitlements if you are intent on moving.

hey I was in the exact same position as yourself, home life was so bad I just had to get out, if it is absolutely necessary that you move out, heres how I did it, I spoke to the residence officer in college, explained my situation, she helped me find the lowest rent I could. I took out a credit union loan and arranged a payment method where by I can pay back during the summer ( I have a guaranteed job for the summer but i dont know if this effected the payent options) If its not absolutely crucial I would advise you maybe wait until next year as I am flat broke and cant even afford much food during the week.
