Are first generation green signs on national routes a rare sight, are there many of them still about? I saw one yesterday on the N3. According to wikipedia
The first generation of the current signage system, introduced in 1977, can also be seen in on some national roads (and also on the oldest stretch of the M1). This is similar to the current system, but the signs are simpler, a different shade of green is used, and the Irish place names are not in italics. These signs were directly based on the Warboys Committee designs which had been adopted in the UK in 1965. These signs were replaced by the current system on 1 January 1989

There's one in Limerick approaching the Roxboro roundabout on the Childers Road from the Kilmallock Roundabout direction. It's a standard roundabout map sign but the Irish is not in italics. IIRC it is a white sign though (as the Childers Road was never a national route here).

Here's one from just North of Sligo.

I think its now the only mention of "Derry" on the N15 until the N13 starts at McClays Corner in Stranorlar. Lifford probably became the replacement as it is the terminal point of the N15.

Its odd that this sign remained in place given that a newer type was placed very close to it in recent years.
