Go and see your GP and he should be able to advise. Certainly I think there is services available for those who can't afford it but I think you'd have to be referred by your doctor.

Yeah there are community counselors that you can see. I went to one as a teenager when we were broke and basically you give a "contribution" of whatever you can afford.

There's one in Galway in Newtownsmith.

I don't know about any other cities though, maybe someone else does.

Yeah theres loads- google counseling in your local area and a few centers should come up, these centers one i went to for example is coolock development centre and killbarack KLEAR center ....it worked on a contribution basis like if you felt you could give 20 or 10 or 5 what ever your budget is, thats how you can afford it.

    Good luck.

You'll get quite a few links if you google low cost counselling ireland. But be careful who you go to. One option would be to contact one of the colleges that trains counsellors such as http://www.irish-counselling.ie/contactus.htm Many of these colleges provide a low cost counselling service some only €6 per hour using their senior trainees. They may be only trainees but they'll have been studying for nearly 4 years. They just have to get quite a bit of experience before they are fully accredited. Also depending on why you need counselling there may be organisations who deal with your issues who might be able to guide you, e.g. Aware for depression.
If you have a local resource or community centre they may provide a subsidised counselling service.
As previously mentioned your GP should be able to advise you.
    Good luck.

There is also St Catherines Counselling service in Tallaght, attached to the Priory.
Another one is part of the IICP service also in Tallaght.

Accord are great too if it's in any way connected with relationships. Can't speak highly enough of them. Again you pay as and when you can afford it.

hi theres a place in dame street in dublin 2 that offers cheap counselling rates-not sure how cheap though. if you go into the medical centre beside the spar near to georges st, you'll see leaflets there on it. if not,im sure the staff will know because i think its upstairs. local libraries usually have info on therapy resources too.

are you a student?if you are, you get free therapy with college counsellor but you may have to wait a while for an appointment because all the unis/colleges have lack of counselling resoures and because of high demand too.

hope this helps somewhat! if not, maybe support groups could help you. eg 12 step programmes/GROW-for depression etc. www.grow.ie
these meetings are free-you just need to pay "dues" i.e. anything you have at that time. you could try going to st vincent de paul/local church/samaritans also in the meantime to tide you over til you get something more long term set up.

    good luck!
