weekend world cup qualifiers

ive done a fair bit of homework for this weekends internationals....i always find it much easier to get winners coz internationals are a bit easier to call compared to the premiership or champions league...... this is especially true of global football played by the national teams from obscure and far away places...but have a good read of the excellent analysis on www.fifa.com to see what i mean...you can see all the statistics, results and tables and its this modus operandi which has always made me a few quid so i though i share my opinions with my fellow punters, its handy if you have a hunch or 2 and can add these to increase the returns from your accumulators

i will post more alot on friday but for the moment these are my selections :

    home wins :

argentina, holland, North Korea, ghana, ivory coast ( bankers )

others like england, Ireland ( we hope !!) italy , spain, czech republic
we would expect to win but its by no means a certainty

    away wins :

switzerland, poland, denmark, france, usa, nigeria,

chile have a good chance away aswell to peru, aswell as brazil who are way to ecuador, but id be cautious about that as its played at altitude ( over 3,000 metres i heard )

    draws :

    albania,wales, israel, portugal,, belgium, trinidad

south africa V norway in a friendly is another likely draw

Don't have bookies sites in work to check odds but the serbs are a good price to beat the romanians I think, backed it last night

Serbia who are away at about 3/1 look like a good punt. They are playing Romania who are in some trouble with form/injuries right now.

edit didn't see the above post (I agree Giant Reed!)

Ya lads, def getting stuck into internationals. Prob will stay away from Ireland game don't want to jinx them especially after Ireland's great sporting wknd.

Must get a lok at odds, Spain u21s night tonight. Irish u21's are useless, sad to say.

Going go with a trio I'd say. Holland anyway. Must get closer look.

    Keep advice going.

Scotland have 10 outfield players missing from thier "best" squad of 22

Alan Hutton, Stephen McManus, David Weir, Kirk Broadfoot, Paul Hartley, Kevin Thomson, Barry Robson, Shaun Maloney, James McFadden and Lee Miller.

While the Dutch have conspired to screw things up without any outside help at times in the past I reckon they'll have far too much if they start well.

Norn Iron are looking a bit thin alround due to injury and suspension while Poland could start with 29 goals scorer for Auxerre Ireneusz Jelen and they have Leo Beenhacker needing a win.

As long as Givens remains in charge of the Irish underage you would expect there has to be decent value in backing the opposition. I'd love to see the stats on his performance over the years.

There's two Kerry lads throw in there. Brendan Moloney and young Dennehy, Darren. All over Spain. Must leg it down to the bookies.

anyone know what odds paddy power gave for the serbia win?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

    About 3/1

Regarding Brazil in Ecuador, beware the altitude! The capital is nearly 3000 metres above sea level, that could tell.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

Are Ecuador any use? Brazil have any injury worries?

Was thinking of putting yesterday's winnings on Brazil and double up, but I reckon I'll just throw a score on it

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Brazil have NEVER scored a goal in Quito,

    http://www.goal.com/en/news/1648/wcq-south-america/2009/03/27/1177825/world-cup-qualifying-preview-ecuador-brazil

Brazil: Julio Cesar; Maicon, Lucio, Luisao, Marcelo; Gilberto Silva, Felipe Melo, Kaka, Ronaldinho Gaucho; Robinho, Luis Fabiano.

hmmmm... maybe I'll throw on a tenner then :p

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 27,857 ✭✭✭✭Dave!

Good fold, Dave! :D Didn't even put the tenner on

Was gonna for for under 2.5 @ 4/5 though, but forgot! Ahh well

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 2,348 ✭✭✭ErinGoBrath

Was a good fold indeed. Equador should have won by a couple of goals.

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 88,972 ✭✭✭✭mike65

Some of the Brazilian players had to use oxygen masks before the game

Something to bear in mind whenever Ecuador host a team from the low-lands!

That's nuts :D Maybe Ireland should train in Ecuador, so when they get to Italy they'll have so much oxygen that they'll be bombing around the pitch!

thanks for the ideas/tips lads. :)

Delighted with the weekend, got 3 bets to come in.

One treble at 18/1 Serbia to win, latvia to win to nil and holland to win to nil. Couldn't trust the Irish lads to keep a clean sheet with McShane and Kilbane patrolling the flanks

Other one was all the odds on favourites, 8 in all they came in at 4/1.

Stuck a tenner on tiger at 15/8 after he slowed his progress midway thru the last round. So might just buy the TV I was checking out saturday.
