Every time i turn lights on ,I get a load of hum coming through my amp.The amp is a tube marshall and guitar is a strat and les paul.Lights are low voltage halogens. Is there any thing i can get to place between amp and mains to stop all the noise.Mains filter or something

    Buy lots of candles!
But seriously, i know how you feel, interference is something i'm constantly having to deal with. I'm using a Fender Blues Deluxe valve with primarily Strats, i think the interference i come across is more due to my gears close proximity to a computer/monitor. It kind of comes and goes a lot, and the weather affects it too! Ughhhh...

The first thing I'd say is that you should make sure your guitars are properly shielded. This link should help http://www.guitarnuts.com/wiring/shielding/shield3.php

After this you may want to consider a noise gate. There are a good few available.

And if youve the money get yourself a noise supressor.. Id recomend the boss

I've heard that the Boss is one of the worst. I just ordered an ISP decimator pedal yesterday after hearing some clips. It doesn't alter the tone or dynamics, just takes away the noise. :)

I bought it from ebay, actually it was the shop http://www.tonefactor.com on ebay.
It was the same price as their store... much less than thomann. Shipping to Ireland is only $20 also. I think it costed me €110 in total or something?

I should get it next week some time hopefully and I'll see if I can do a clip or two to demonstrate it. My guitar has a P90 single coil so the hum is extra bad.

HAhahaha, that monster is definitely one way of getting rid of interference. And everything else for that matter! Plug the guitar straight into that V6 and you'll be flying!....or.....er....driving:p
