    Hi,

I have booked a holiday in Barcelona with my friends. Never really thought about transport from airport to hotel and coming in at night etc.. until now.

I have read that taxis are very expensive and the airport website advises not to get a taxi into the centre. We are flying into Girona airport. Our hotel is about 10 mins on the metro from the centre.

Looking for some tips or advise re: best way to travel into centre and safety etc

    Thanks!!

The best way to get from Girona airport to Barcelona is by bus. Think it's about €20-25 return. More details here: http://www.barcelona-tourist-guide.com/en/gerona/girona-airport-barcelona.html#barcelonabus

As for staying in Barcelona itself, have a search through some of the other threads on this forum. Where abouts are you staying? Also, compared to Ireland, taxis definitely aren't expensive.

When I was there 2 years ago, there was a bus for €20 return run from the Airport to Estacio Nord (spelling?).

It runs fairly frequently anyway, heading back there again next Thursday and I can't wait.

Girona is to Barcelona as Portlaoise is to Dublin. It's not even slightly near where you want to be, but you can get there by bus alright.

Don't even think of getting a taxi - it would probably cost €100.

We got the bus from Sants station to Girona and it took something like an hour or so on motorways at off-peak time. It wasn't a Ryanair bus - it was the regional bus operator.

Do the usual google - girona airport bus - and you should dig up the exact timetable and fare.

word of advice for the taxis when you arrive in barce center. only take the yellow and black ones. don't get into any normal looking cars even if they have teh taxi reg plate. they'll charge you double or rob you blind. even the normal yellow and black ones may try and rob you but if you've any sense you'll tell them to turn on the meter at the start. they took me on a mad detour once before and I just asked him where the **** was he off to. he'd actually drove right past the station. it was 4am in the mornin and pitch dark. he prob thought i wouldnt know. anyway beware. like anywhere else i suppose. Barcelona is my favourite city. brilliant

    Hey,

Thanks for all the replies! Stayin out in Bertran, there's a metro nearby but I think its on a different line to the line you get at the Barcelona station.

I was looking up buses from Girona to Barcelona so that seems to be fine. It's just a matter of sorting out Transport from station to Bertran. I read before that taxis will try scam you, and that in a certain radius from the station it shouldnt cost more than E10! Ill look into that more I think ;)

Thanks again, really looking forward to the trip now!!! :)
