    Ok I took notice of this on another thread. How many women have gotten pregnant while on the pill, be it the combination pill, progesterone only, etc. How many women (myself included) were very good at taking the Pill but still got pregnant? Or did ye get sick/eat bad food or just accidentally forget?

    This is completely out of curiosity

    So anyway back to topic, how many people have accidently gotten pregnant/know someone who has gotten pregnant while on the pill?

    Plenty, and for different reasons: Got sick. Forgot 'em. Even heard a story (hearsay, alas) about a girl who's strictly catholic mother found them and took them off her to stop her having all that sinful sex. 9 months later...

    Still, the pill isn't a catchall, and you shouldn't rely on it 100%, particularly given that it relies on perfect memory for it (found in 1 in 1,000 women), lack of sickness, etc.

    That's not good. As the pill mimics the action of oestrogen (sp) any male children resulting from such a pregnancy would surely be feminised.

    :eek:!

    Although.... i suppose if you stopped taking it during the first month oestrogen (sp) levels would go to normal (for a pregnant woman) before anything happens to the embryo that is hormone related.

    I used to work with a guy, whose every child was conceived while his wife was on the pill (he had 3.) Never could figure out if his wife just wasn't taking it, he was some sort of superman, or the pills just weren't working.

    @herr0
    oestrogen (sp)

    estrogen. If you use firefox, it has a built in spell checker ;)

    According to my obstetrician, your more inclined to miscarry than have a effeminate male child. These hormones occur naturally in a mother. If my son turns out to be very effeminate I'll let ye all know;)
