Wow... that came out of nowhere. If it is anywhere as near as good as Phantom Hourglass it will be awesome.

If they could just get to work on a new Wii one we'll be flying!

There was an announcement at E3 that a Zelda team was working on somethng and I guess this is it.

I loved Phantom Hourglass and this looks like more of the same with trains instead of boats, no complaints really.

It would be nice if they changed things around slightly just in terms of the atory and quest, every game since LttP has been a remake esentially (withthe exception of Majora's mask)

yes just heard the news and i straight to see what people will say :D:D:D damn exciting!!

Trailer looks a little... strange. Hopefully the dungeons will be well designed, because the train just looks like the boat, only on land.

I suppose I should be glad of new Zelda, but the video looks a little dull or something. But hey, will wait and see, and as long as they don't have a ****ing stealth dungeon I have to visit 10 ****ing times I'll be happy.

looks good to me, Hourglass was brilliant and fundamentally, this looks like more of the same.

When is it due for release? :D

Serious? You should play it as soon as possible. It's an absolute joy. The control scheme is genius.

yeah the whole thing is a gem.

i loved hourglass but i really hated having to re-do the same dungeon over and over again. it got so old so fast.

i'm still looking forward to this one. will be great to have some more Link. i was starting to wonder if they were going to make another one for this generation at all.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 15,183 ✭✭✭✭Atavan-Halen

That was a surprise! I've only played about half an hour of Phantom Hourglass, so i'll have to get moving on that

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 1,479 ✭✭✭Stalfos

I like the new weapons and abilities that Link can use now. Not to sure about the train though. Hopefully it won't be as repetitive as the boat in phantom hourglass.

    .

+1 It annoyed me so much i decided me and the game needed some time apart. Picked it up again the other week and i've no idea where I am in the game or what I'm supposed to do next. Last thing I remeber was being on an island that was the shape of a DS?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

    curious to where its set?

It has the Windwaker designs, but its on land?

So which Zelda timeline/world/era/etc is it set in?

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,332 ✭✭✭valleyoftheunos

Phantom Hourglass was a direct sequal to Windwaker, I imagine this could be the third in the series?

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

soooo where did all the water go?

I'm pretty sure I remember the ending to phantom hourglass (or am I really that braindead?) and it didnt involve returning hyrule to the surface.

I was the same - I gave up at one point when they sent me back to the temple again and refused to go back to the game for a while. Eventually did and finished it, and while for the most part it was a very well realised game - in particular the controls - the repetitive dungeon really was badly judged design, kind of like the triforce quest in Wind Waker to just add gameplay. I'd rather a tightly designed short game than a rambling epic sometimes. Still a fantastic game, but definitely a criticism I hope they well sort out this time.

Suppose they'll just introduce a new continent or something, I imagine they'll sort it out somehow. That or they can just go all deus ex machina and have Ganandorf cast a spell or something - magic sorts all continuity problems.

  • Registered Users, Registered Users 2 Posts: 14,698 ✭✭✭✭BlitzKrieg

or they can simply do what they did with pretty much every other zelda game except phantom hourglass, four swords adventure (sort of) and majora's mask and just start with a new link.

Like I said I'm just curious if they are gonna go with new link, in which case its disapointing that they are sticking with the windwaker art style. While it is one of the best art styles they have gone with it is also very much tied to the windwaker universe (seeing it without vast open seas is sort of confusing) allowing it to be used for new zelda titles not linked to windwaker sort of pushes it to be the official zelda art style (seeing as the style has changed for pretty much every new link) and sort of :( I like them experimenting.

If it is in the windwaker universe then wohoho it screams a return of ganondorf (since he was trapped on the continent and if it is raised, then he has probably been released) any sign of the master sword in the trailer? :D

I wouldn't get too caught up in where this may or may not be set, Zelda has never been too worried about continuity and I doubt this will be much different.

The Wind Waker art style is by far my favorite so I'll enjoy playing this regardless of where it fits into the canon of Zelda games.

So Link runs a railway now? Nice.

Should be a good game. I really wish they'd get a Wii Zelda out though.

I'm hoping they are still working on it.

Looks lovely, although surely a railway is less free than the open sea, that said I suppose the thing is to draw the track either before travel or even during, hmm...

Still, another Zelda game I'll never finish, the only one so far I've completed is Zelda Twilight Princess on Wii.

If you can complete that you can complete any of them

Wow, this is a nice surprise. Brilliant.

Would prefer a Wii game, but still delighted.

since the twilight princess was originally been made for the gamecube, it would be nice if they already have something in the pipeline for the Wii. Would be a nice surprise if they said they were some way into the development of a new zelda, because i doubt we will see another mario (perhaps paper mario) platform game on the Wii which is a shame :(

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,332 ✭✭✭valleyoftheunos

they announced that a Mario Team is working on a new project a while back. speculation was that it was for a follow up to Galaxy.

they actually are working on a new zelda for the wii

(Miyamoto offered those words at E3 2008, where he also confirmed that a new Wii Legend of Zelda game is in development by key members of the Twilight Princess and Phantom Hourglass teams.)

    check it out here

    anyone playing this yet?

    http://www.gametrailers.com/video/review-zelda-spirit/59651
    http://www.metacritic.com/games/platforms/ds/legendofzeldaspirittracks

seems to be much the same as Phantom Hourglass(no bad thing in my book) but there are definitely improvements. should make for a very enjoyable DS game.

The ROM was leaked on Thursday for naughty flashcard owners.
I'll be first in line next Friday to grab this.

I really must pick up this and Phantom Hourglass.

I'd love if they ported Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask to the DS, although I'm not sure if it would work on a such a small screen.

I saw it for €35 in HMV.

Was going to get it but had to buy Style Boutique as a present for someone. That game is a pain to find in stock now.

Finished first 2 temples last night (couldn't stop playing once I started!). First one was an absolute breeze (which worried me), but the second had me scratching my head more than once, and had a tough boss battle. Very good game, and better than Phantom Hourglass so far....

The music is fantastic in this game and I love the look of the chancelor :D

Great game so far. Hopefully it doesn't suffer from Ocean King Temple Syndrome

    bit too short / easy

  • Closed Accounts Posts: 2,720 ✭✭✭Sid_Justice

This guys review is similar assessment to my own.

    http://ie.ds.ign.com/articles/105/1052939p1.html

How many hours of game play constitutes short in your opinion Subway? Certainly including side missions you've got over 20 hours here.

I thought it was a good game, a bit repetive, and the train was actually more of a chore than anything else.
