Replacing a perfectly good steering wheel with a "toy" one?

Why do certain people, mostly muppet mobile owners, replace perfectly good steering wheels that have been designed for the car and have an airbag with some rubbish one that looks completely out of place on anything except maybe a go kart? Do they have a deathwish or what?

To be fair, very few people actually remove airbag wheels.

The answer is in the question. Muppetmobiles are owned and driven by muppets. There. Problem solved.

Muppets will be muppets.... Whatever looks cooler is their game.

The steering wheels are smaller for shorter steering turn, proper hand grip texture for better grip, and so on....

Same reason that rally car drivers have similar ones in there cars.

I guess I would haven to answer a question with a question....

What difference does it make to you?

(No I don't have one I have an Airbag and a perfectly normal car)

In fairness the steering wheel maketh the car.

There is nothing worse than having a rotten grey plastic steering wheel, having said that I'd be more inclined to upgrade to a higher spec OEM wheel should I feel the need.

    Boy racers aren't rally drivers.

Some people change/upgrade parts on their cars, some people buy more expensive golf clubs, some people buy more expensive football boots but none of these will make you drive better, play golf better or kick a ball better if you don't have the talent to begin with, if someone wants to change their steering wheel, why does it bother you:confused: car modifying is a hobby to the young lads that do it simple as that, if they think it looks good who are we to judge them.

And not everybody who drives a modified car is a boy racer.

    whats wrong with it?
airbags are not the holy grail FYI

your seatbelt is more important than any steering wheel airbag imo.

why are you driving the car that you do.....? its a personal choice, we dont complain about it so get over it!

That was a well thought out reply. Seriously though you have not got a clue if you think all car enthusiasts are boy racers. If you knew anything about it you would know most people who are involved in modifying cars/car clubs etc are normal people who have an interest and are often many years past being "boys".

Obviously there are boy racers but the type of car does not make them a boy racer, well some 1.3 litre s**t boxes attract them but still its the driver at the end of the day not the car.

What's the difference between a boy racer & a car modifier? I've seen lost of boy racers in modified cars - but I've never seen a modified car that's not driven by a boy racer. They're the same, IMO.

It was the irony that was amusing, TBH. It would be like me calling you 'stipud'.

The same reason they put massive rear spoliers on front on FWD cars, the same reason they put intercooler air scoops on normally aspirated cars etc etc....because they're dicks

How can you call someone a dick for having a differant taste in car styling than you:confused:, just because they like it doesnt make them dicks.

In fairness the steering wheels in some cars are terrible and awkward. Although I probably wouldnt put in an after market steering wheel my self I dont see the problem with them and some of them do look good.
