Trade in advice

    Hi there,
I have a '02 Polo and have been given a '00 Punto. I was thinking of selling one car privately and putting the money towards the other car as trade in for a newer car, maybe an '04 Polo. Financially, does it make more sense to sell the Punto and trade the Polo, or the other way around? Never traded in a car before (I'm looking for my second car) so advice welcome.
    Thanks!

Put both up for sale, 1 may sell quicker than the other. If you are lucky enough to sell both, you are ina better position to purcahase as a cash buyer and might e able to get newer than when you are thinking.

Ask for all the options from who ever you are trying to deal with and see what you are getting. You'll only get scrappage on the Punto anyway which is pretty much the amount you'll get off if your're not trading anything in. Polo should be a good little seller in a private add. Ask the dealer how much it will cost you to change with both trade-ins, with either of the trade-ins and in a straight sale
